Recently, TOG held a contest to give away 10 beta invitations for the upcoming
Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising MMORPG. The idea of this contest was to write a

 | Pirates of the Burning Seas Release Date Announced
Flying Labs Software the publishers of the upcoming
MMO Pirates of the Burning Seas has announced a release date of June 2007. TOG
members may remember a chance to win Beta keys earler this year. While this date
may be depressing for some, who were eagerly awaiting a pre-christmas release.
The pirate / adventurer hiding inside all who have enjoyed the glory and romance
associatted with the Age of Sail in either movies, books or games can rejoice.

With the release of LU24 (Live Update) and now GU25 (Game Update), there has
been an increase in the purchase of housing within The Old Guard. Many players
had held on the first 1 room apartment that costs 5 silver a week to maintain.

 | DDO Expands with Twilight Forge
The much anticipated 'Module 2: Twilight Forge' content update for Turbine's Dungeons & Dragons Online is due for this coming Wednesday, 12th July 2006 (EDT). This will be the second major content release for the MMORPG based upon the popular pen and paper game Dungeons and Dragons. This update will include a new continent, a new playable race, an in-game mail system, new patron system, spell swapping for bards and sorcerers, a load of new spells and general improvements.

| Blizzard Allows Character Transfers
On 6/27/06, Blizzard announced they are now going to allow paid character
transfers on selected realms. The character transfer is available for characters
wanting to move to other realms and even from one account to another of the same
subscriber. They are going in stages, slowly adding more and more realms to the
list of allowable server transfers.

| Live Update 24 Introduces Major Changes
On June 14, 2006 Sony Online Entertainment introduced the biggest changes yet to
the tradeskilling / crafting system within Everquest 2 with Live Update 24. As a
part of this change SOE removed the requirements for subcombines.
With
the old Crafting system, each profession had to either make their own
subcombines or get another tradeskiller to make an item they needed to complete

| WoW Causing Ripples In The Pond
After the first rush of MMO's, begining with Sony's "EverQuest" in 1999, followed by "Dark Age of Camelot" and "City of Heroes" and "Star Wars Galaxies", came Blizzard's "World of Warcraft" to rule them all. This game was released in 2004 and by January of 2006 had reached 5.5 million subscribers worldwide. It's no shock that the next generation of MMO's are taking notice and trying to ride the coat-tails of WoW's success.
