On June 14, 2006 Sony Online Entertainment introduced the biggest changes yet to the tradeskilling / crafting system within Everquest 2 with Live Update 24. As a part of this change SOE removed the requirements for subcombines.

After the first rush of MMO's, begining with Sony's "EverQuest" in 1999, followed by "Dark Age of Camelot" and "City of Heroes" and "Star Wars Galaxies", came Blizzard's "World of Warcraft" to rule them all. This game was released in 2004 and by January of 2006 had reached 5.5 million subscribers worldwide. It's no shock that the next generation of MMO's are taking notice and trying to ride the coat-tails of WoW's success.
