As most of you may know by now, Sierra has released the FULL version of their multiplayer game F.E.A.R. The response has been so positive that within 36 hours of this release TOG has adopted it as its newest division!!! If you dont have it yet you can get it here [FREE-Multiplayer].
I would like to take this time now to tell you all about the game, what gametypes it offers, and the weapons.
When I tell my friends about this game, they always ask about the gameplay. Well I can sum that up in just 3 words, "FAST AND FURIOUS!!!", and trust me, this is NOT an overstatement. There is rarely a break in the action, even more so if Deathmatch is your gametype of choice.

In many FPS games out there, a lone wolf can just "run & gun" and rack up his/her kills. With F.E.A.R. though you have the best chance for survival by working in a "fire team", which basically means "stick together." Another thing you must always do is watch your back. These maps are set up in such a way that while your team is engaged in a firefight with the enemy, the enemy can break off a team, have them circle around behind you, and take out your whole team. Those of you that have played Wolfenstein Enemy Territory or Counterstrike will feel comfortable with the gameplay right away as it is very similar to those games.
Now, about those gametypes that F.E.A.R. has. It has 10 different types and most are objective based. In no particular order they are;
  • Team Deathmatch
  • Deathmatch
  • Capture The Flag
  • Elimination
  • Control
  • Conquer All (my favorite)
  • Team Elimination
  • Slowmo Capture The Flag
  • Slowmo Team Deathmatch
  • Slowmo Deathmatch
Now the difference between the regular gametypes and the slowmo types is that in slowmo there is a slowmo generator in the map, and when you pick it up it begins to charge your slowmo ability. Once fully charged you press the certain key to activate it, and it is useful for A) escaping a bad situation, B) turning on your attackers, or C) charging in on a well defended flag for the grab. Keep in mind that your enemies will only be in slowmo for a very short time so use it wisely.

Here is a list of the weapons in the game, they are listed in the order of their power.
  • AT-14 Pistols
  • RPL Sub Machinegun
  • VK-12 Combat Shotgun
  • GUA2 Assault Rifle
  • ASP Rifle (Sniper)
There are also 3 super weapons that can be picked up in the map, and they are;
  • Mod-3 Multi-Rocket Launcher (Fires 3 rockets at once)
  • Type-7 Particle Weapon (Fires a super charged blast of electricity)
  • MP-50 Repeating cannon

Now, before you even start playing here is the best tip I can give you. REMAP ALL YOUR KEYS!!! I left the w,s,a,d,q,and e the same but deleted the rest and set them up MY way.

When you enter a map you also start off with 1 grenade, but more can be picked up in the map. There are also proximity mines that you can find. When a team mate places 1 of these it will blink a blue light, but if you see 1 blinking red that means it is an enemy mine and in order to pass by it you must shoot it and blow it up. There is also a nasty little device in there waiting to be picked up, its the remote bomb. When you throw one of these out it sticks to whatever it hits, so a good way to use these things is to throw them on a ceiling, like in a hallway leading to an objective, so when an enemy comes down that hallway you hit the detonator and boom, hallway is now clear but messy. heh heh heh
Well those are the basics for F.E.A.R. I hope most, if not all of you will be giving this game a good try, and I look forward to seeing you all in the servers...... through my sights.
