TOG finds a new home for it's growing Red Orchestra player base.

Peering through the haze from the burning buildings for any sign of movement, I hear the sound of a bullet passing all too close by. Was it a stray shot, or have I been seen?
Its time to break for another piece of cover a few paces away just in case someone is taking a bead on me here.
Suddenly the whole world shakes, vision blurs as my ears ring from the near miss of the artillery strike. I sprint for a crater I can see, and hope I am running away from the barrage instead of running into it.
As the artillery strike finishes I hear the familiar sound of one of our tanks rumbling towards my location. Best I keep an eye out to make sure I do not get run over. The boom of the main gun means that the engagement is continuing. I fall in behind the tank for cover and to make sure that the enemy sappers do not have the chance to get close and knock our tank out. I see someone running towards the tank and take him out.
For those of us that like some realism in our gaming Red Orchestra provides a level of realism that is uncommon in many of today's FPS games. With no cross hairs in the middle of the screen there is much less shooting from the hip, in fact it is not possible to sprint and gun at the same time. There is no health level, a well placed single shot can remove you from action, artillery that is close by will shake the world and blur your vision, and don't expect to hear much until the barrage finishes. Tanks, and other vehicles can be driven and depending on the tank you can also ride on the outside.
This is not a game for people who have a love of running and gunning, although within buildings and close urban areas there is enough of this style of game-play to keep the heart beating and reflexes honed. Also don't expect to be able to jump round the battlefield like you have pogo-sticks for legs. If you try jumping too many times, or sprint for too long you will find yourself out of breath and only able to walk, also when this exhausted don't expect your aim to be as true as normal.
But its not just about the realism, its also about the people. The TOG Red Orchestra Division provides a great laid back community that is focussed on enjoying our gaming. We compete in the Australian Red Orchestra competitions and can be regularly be found on line from early evenings till late.
If you enjoy a realistic approach to FPS gaming, working as part of a team, supporting your buddies, then Red Orchestra is definitely worth a try.
