In what can only be described as phenomenal, The Old Guard playing on Everquest II’s Najena Server has achieved the Guild Level of 50. Level 50 is the current max guild level for Everquest 2. The amount of team work by each and every member is astounding to fathom.

With the standard being a level increase every 5 to 6 weeks in the past, as of late the desire to reach Level 50 by all members, ended up increasing our levels by 1 every 2 to 3 days. There was hardly a time when in the game, that someone was not spamming the guild chat with <name> has completed the writ <writ name>. It goes without saying, that without the efforts of The Old Guards members, we would not have accomplished such a feat in such a relatively short time.

When Kingdom of Sky was released, The Old Guard’s Guild level was sitting within the level 30 to 40 range. Since The release of KoS, the guild achieved approximately 15 levels if not more. Below you will find the comments of both the Leadership and members a like with their views and perspectives as is appropriate, since this is their accomplishment. If I had a medal to pin on each one, I would.

Remann:

Saturday morning at 01:30 the guild was approaching 76% (24% from max level). With writs in my quest journal and ready to head out after a run in Hall of Fate, I had to contemplate whether to complete them our not. Many of the Guild were out either trying to complete Heritage Quests or on writ runs. With blood shot and burning eyes, I decided that it was time for me head to bed, all the while thinking, I should continue on and feeling guilty for not pulling an all nighter to help get this done. Well maybe we won’t ding and I can be there for this glorious occasion. At 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning, I woke up, quickly fired up my computer and loaded up EQ2, even forgetting to make coffee. Upon logging on, the first message I received was the Guild MOTD congratulating the guild for reaching guild level 50. All I could do was sit, smile and stare at the screen. I was filled such pride for the guild, I thought that I was going to burst. Later on in the day, while chatting with Khondo, I had to stop because I was getting choked and tears were filling my eyes.

To see The Old Guard reach guild level 50 was phenomenal to me. As stated below by Jademist, this could not have been accomplished without the help of all those members from days gone by.

Khondo:

I can still remember the day when Remann sent me my guild invite. I was so grateful to be apart of a fantastic group of people that was so set in having fun in this game. Now all those months ago (17), seem to have passed by so quick.

We have had our ups and downs as a guild, but one thing has always stayed strong, friendship. I feel honored and privileged to have been apart of it all.

Jademist (Blackice):

Thanks to all the previous members and Patrons from long ago who assisted in getting us to this point.

The Old Guard was formed on Najena on November 13, 2004. The effort involved in getting a group of individuals to work towards a common goal for a year and a half speaks volumes for the level of commitment and friendly nature that The Older Gamers brings out in all of us.

Goremoney (Tux):

I’ve seen many things in The Old Guard. I was a guild member almost from the very start and i saw the Guild level go up and down. As members left the guild so did all the status they put in. SOE changed the system so when a member left the guild their status stayed and that in my opinion was the start for TOG. It gave guildies a goal that was reachable and Climb for the goals they did. When called upon the guild is always there like a single unit and THAT is the heart and backbone of The Old Guard. Over the next several months the guild grew in numbers but not just any numbers, dedicated people that wanted to play a game but more importantly looked forward to logging in to be with online friends. When you have people like that in your guild, maxing out the Guild level is really a non event. Well done The Old Guard.

Onichi (Roska):

I joined the guild back when it was split Qeynos / Freeport and I was a member of Travesty Of Generations. Even back then it was highly evident that I had made the right choice in a long term guild, everyone was friendly and helpful and fun to be around. I made a few fast friends, a few who have left the game and a few that still plays with me now. The old Guard has achieved more than any Guild I have been a part of in any other game.

If I had to sum up my feelings on The Old Guard it would probably go something like this... If the biggest raiding guild on Najena came to me and said "We have a full set of Tier 7 Fabled Gear, Master Spells and a signing bonus of 500pp for you to join our guild".. My answer to that would be - "Sorry guy's, not interested".
