On June 14, 2006 Sony Online Entertainment introduced the biggest changes yet to
the tradeskilling / crafting system within Everquest 2 with Live Update 24. As a
part of this change SOE removed the requirements for subcombines.
With
the old Crafting system, each profession had to either make their own
subcombines or get another tradeskiller to make an item they needed to complete
the final product. The changes also come with changes to the harvesting, new
recipes and new discoveries for the tradeskillers in the game.
Due to the
Tradeskill changes, SOE has implemented the following changes to the harvesting
as well.
New Harvesting tools for Woodworkers to make decreasing
harvesting time.
Greater quantities of harvestables, based on the players
harvesting skills.
Harvestable Rares added specific to adventure classes.
Rare loams for Fighter and Scout classes as an example.
This has to be
the largest and most awaited change to the game to date. The what, had to seem
like endless hours of tradeskilling just make one item to sell or for a fellow
Guild Member, is not cut down to just minutes. The only down side to the change
would be the amount of harvestable items required to make in game items, such as
furniture, weapons, shields and armor.
Another exciting change is the
consignment system. In the past a player either stored items to sell in their
house vault or would keep a character online to sell their goods. This is no
longer the case. Now to sell an item, all you have to do is find your closest
NPC Broker and click on the sell tab, put a box or boxes into your available
slots (based on home size), drag and drop the item(s) that you want to
sell.
For hardcore tradeskillers, this has to be one the best changes to
date. No longer do they need to spend hours of Tradeskill time filling up their
inventories, and then leaving the Tradeskill instance – run to their apartment
that may be in an entirely different zone or two zones away. If you had a slow
computer this can take up a lot of time, since you can have up to 5 different
times that you would need to change to.
Now with the new broker system,
tradeskillers in Qeynos just need to run up one set of stairs to their
Tradeskill instance broker and Freeport citizens either jump down (if you have
safe fall) or run down 3 levels to the broker in their Tradeskill
instance.
Once an item or items have been sold, players can retrieve the
funds from the broker as well. The amount sold per session and overall is
tracked within the new broker system as well, when viewing from either a broker
or a market board when within their home.
Along with Live Update 24 comes
a new adventure pack, changes to some of the game mechanics for almost every
class within the game. There are so many new positive changes to Everquest 2
with this LU, that it is difficult to cover them all. This is a live update that
needs to be experienced to understand the changes. Nice work SOE, this is a very
positive and welcome Live Update.
