Elite was def a classic, also Paradroid (check the comments in First Game thread, most ppl remember this game), R-Type (the best of the old school horizontal scroller shooters), Pawn (the first real graphic adventure), Pitstop (first real racing game of its kind), Ghosts and Goblins (everyone remembers this), Impossible Mission (Stay awhile...stay forever.....hahahaha), Altered Beast, Doom (first FPS), Great Gianna Sisters (would be a good story as it was taken off the shelves not long after release for being a Mario rip off), Tetris, Block Out (first 3D tetris clone).
