Here's how it's gone for me so far:

Bioshock Demo - Fantastic! Must get!
COD4 Demo - Fantastic! Must get!
Crysis Demo - Fantastic! Must get!
Gifted with HL2 - Fantastic! Must play!
Got IL-2 Sturmovik : 1946 - Fantastic! Must play!
New BF2142 patch finally - Fantastic! Must play!

Then along comes reality and a mere 24hrs in the day (damn who ever invented time with only 24hrs!). Oh, and then of course it's family time (which I actually love), and somewhere in there is that time I spend working...

It's a bloody struggle as you say with all these great games out....
