Full CS:GO Map List Revealed

Some users over on the official Steam forums have been snooping through the Global Offensive closed beta files and stumbled across some interesting information: what appears to be the full launch map list for CS:GO!
The beta’s maplist.txt file contains a list of all 16 maps, including four which have not been officially announced yet (in bold) and an additional training map:
  • cs_italy
  • cs_office
  • de_aztec
  • de_dust
  • de_dust2
  • de_inferno
  • de_nuke
  • de_shorttrain
  • ar_baggage
  • ar_shoots
  • de_bank
  • de_lake
  • de_safehouse
  • de_sugarcane
  • de_stmarc
  • de_train
  • training1
While we can only speculate at this point, it seems very likely this will be the final maplist for CS:GO’s launch sometime early next year. You may remember that back in August, some of the professional CS:S players who were invited to Valve to test CS:GO made reference to a CS:GO version of the classic defuse map de_train with only a single bomb site – it seems obvious that this is de_shorttrain from the list above.
The other previously unannounced maps revealed by this information are de_bank, de_lake, and de_safehouse and a bonus training map training1. Together with the four maps new to CS:GO announced a couple of months ago and the eight remade classic maps, this means we now know the names of all the launch maps for Global Offensive (as Valve previously announced there would be 16 maps at launch – 8 remakes and 8 new ones).
Another user found the following error messages about missing data for CS:GO which also point to some unknown map names:
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/cs_italy.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/cs_office.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/de_aztec.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/de_bank.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/de_house.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/de_mill.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/de_nuke.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/de_shacks.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/de_train.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/gg_baggage.pcf’
  • Particles: Missing ‘particles/maps/gg_vietnam.pcf’
This information is likely apocryphal and doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know – it appears that the maps listed here are just previous working names for some of the same maps listed earlier. For example, de_mill is probably de_sugarcane, which takes place in a South American sugar mill. Similarly, de_vietnam is most likely de_shoots, which looks to be set in Southeast Asia:
de_shoots appears to take place in Vietnam
Finally, de_house is almost certainly the same map as de_safehouse from the list above, and de_shacks is probably the working title for de_stmarc which takes place in an impoverished Haitian port town. So while we can assume this second bit of info doesn’t tell us anything new, it’s still interesting to see how the project has evolved, and now we know all sixteen map names!
