Mumble is like TeamSpeak and ventrillo. Easy to download and configure. Seen Torouk in the mumble channel a few times but I haven't been whitelist so haven't been able to get on yet.
I know the feeling about the forum. I was a member years ago and couldn't get my head arround the forums either. Then came back to find my username not in use so had to recreate it. The easiest way I have found is to sticky the 'base' forum level that you want to come back to.
I have firefox set to open all my forums (except for the TOG forums) to unread and the TOG ones to just Minecraft and LOL.
