I have been having an absolute ball playing Evolution mission lately. So I figured this mission deserves it's own thread. I think it would make a good introductory mission for new players too.
I've got some observations after having played along side of some you TOG guys a few days back on this mission. The mission has got 3 extra features, which it sounded like some of you weren't aware of. There are 3 buildings near the start (marked on the map): Missions, Transfer & Recruit. 1) Missions building: You can choose from 6 different mission types. See "missions" image: ![]() 2) Transfer building: You can join a squad in the Transfer building. This makes sticking together a bit easier. The new Evolution v1.2 now includes my Team Status Dialog, so selecting a squad to join will be much easier and more informative. ![]() 3) Recruitment building: The leader can recruit A.I. players to assist. This can be really handy for long drives or vehicle retrieval and also spotting. You are limited to 1 AI per rank per group. ____________________________ Unlocks: ![]() Ranks & Hints: _![]() Objectives: _![]() - Just avoid the "24 minute day" servers. Playing the "24 minute day" with night cycles was pretty bad due to the poor NV causing total blackness near some areas. It could be related to the speed of time. personally stomp i cant stand it, every bloody server is playing it. all the dicks in the server use all the transport first up and the have to spend the rest of the map walking, if they did ferry runs, yeah ok, but they dont they just leave them where they are finished with them and thats it
that and para jump are the only two maps that the oz servers are playing and flogging them to death

No, the transport problems are fixed/improved in 1.2 & 1.3. The MH6 now respawns once abandoned. Lots more vehicles & HMMVEE's. Just rank up to seargent quickly and you can get your own.
It's pretty boring on your own, so squad up and then you can achieve a lot more too - squad comms for local chat and pick-up requests, squad info dialog to locate everyone by grid ref or distance and also to find vehicles in use for pick-up, etc. I've found they're doing ferry runs all the time anyway. You need to ask for it and also wait for it, if you're dependent on it, but I'd say it's fixed now. It's highly recommended you do a few side-missions before bothering with the main battles, which I don't even do now. I find all of the fun is in the side-missions. You simply encounter the main battles as obstacles on your way to a mission. You can rank up quickly by doing a Water Patrol mission or some of the easier 10 point missions. They're being flogged to death because they are such long missions, some go for 8-12 hours, which is what makes these better than the CTI concept atm. |

You should never have to worry about getting a particular version of a mission. It'll just download automatically upon joining. Unless you're talking about wanting to preview it, in which case, they're fairly similar anyway between versions now.

Evolution 3.0 is out. (He skipped a version to avoid confusion with modded versions.)
I'm not really aware of what has been added between 1.5a...1.5m/3.0 Quote:
