just wondering stomp
would the server have a TOGish name? for recruitment purposes (i really want to see this thing kick off here) ball park figure for a server? , i might be able to fund a bit

Havent looked too deeply into costs yet, would probably be a cost per player slot sort of thing, so we would want to keep at a minimum. My thoughts were that its primary purpose would be a server we could use privately (passworded) to be able to play missions properly from start to end, and those missions would be ones we wanted to actually play. Every now and then we throw it open to the public when a few of us are on and see what we can catch. I cant see us needing any more then a 8-10 player server, ballpark figure would be approx 5 bucks per slot per month, thats a guesstimate though.

My thoughts on it:
Last night we suggested running a dedicated server process (arma_server.exe which runs a small text window) on a user's PC while running the game himself on the same PC as a client. I believe on a high end PC (CPU and RAM mainly, plus video for the client and probably ADSL2) it should work fairly well. It would allow for the client to crash CTD mid-game while not affecting the server. I just tried running arma_server.exe now and it's all fairly simple. Ideally you need a config file for it. Without one, it defaults the server name to your PC name and makes all your missions available for selection. You can simply use in-game voting to change it. You can leave the console window on your second screen to monitor it. Have to try this out further. ![]() An interesting topic on server.cfg file here. Code:

After tonights testing, with the current numbers we are right with me hosting, ran extremely well with the 4 of us and I cant see another 2 straining it too much more. We should maybe reconsider this when we have a few more regular players.
I am happy to put server up when I am at work weeknights, Dr Eyeball knows admin pw. If you haven't already, could you add "Final Countdown 2" at some stage to the server. Coop(1-40)FinalCountDown_2.Sara.pbo
I seem to remember we played an earlier version (prob 1.2) of it the other night. |

Hi all,
I have put up a server at 128.200.55.28 port 40000 Its on our university backbone so should be quit high speed. I am still at work so unable to test the connection and it is setup default out of the box (outside of the config file settings above.) Server pw: OldAndBold Admin pw: TogRulz If someone wanted to try and connect, I wouldn't mind ![]() I just requested the campus firewall to open port 40000 as well, so might take it an hour or so from this post before it opens. I see the server but cant join, keep getting message about wrong version. Are you sure its patched to 1.05?
