hi everyone..
I am going to buy a game on the weekend and was thinking of getting this one. Does the single player have depth? I don’t need a full review, but any info to endorse my decision would be good ![]() I would also like to play online ![]()

a 5 page review with SP screenshots.
Single Player - Campaign: I think the single player campaign is great. I'm only about half way through since I mainly focus on MP and editing. - There are a lot of complaints that the "story" is not as good as OFP:R campaign. I don't worry about it, so instead, consider it a loosly tied story consisting of many objective based missions and some battles. - The length of the campaign is quite good, probably about 20-40 hours, depending on your style of play. - It has periodic auto saves, plus there's a manual save - The community has developed other full SP campaigns, some are considered very good. Single Player - Missions: - In addition, there are also about 12 individual missions, 6 are locked until earlier ones are completed. Multi Player: - Coop mode (team vs AI) is great and makes up the majority of online ArmA gaming. - Team vs Team missions are still lacking any serious depth (like BF2:Project Reality mod), but I'd expect someone to rectify that this year. Future: - New missions are being made for it constantly. - New add-ons (vehicles, islands, etc) are being made for it constantly. - New mods are released occasionally, with the big ones still in development. Edit: Forgot to mention, the game requires a very high end PC to play well. I'd recommand 3.5GHz+, 7800+. Get some advice on setting up video settings, when you're ready. As someone coming to this game fresh, it's pretty daunting. To be totally honest, it feels VERY buggy (to me) and in need of some serious hand holding!
I've spoken with the guys here, and they unanimously agree that it's worth getting through the difficulties, and on into the Multiplayer elements. I'm yet to get there, but will be there with you as a fellow n00b! ![]()

thanks
![]() I got it. I had a games wizard voucher so got it pretty cheap. I have been through the training (can just about fly a chopper). Doing the campaign and I am up to a mission where you have to blow the bridges. A lot of commands and the enemy have eyes like hawks. Also graphics are crisp - almost arcady, - not really a gritty war feeling and the sounds 'like running on cement' sound a bit tinny (and I have good sound system) I don’t have a very high end PC, (P4 3.0ghz, 2 gig ram, ATI x850 card), but that will change before xmas anyway. Still runs very well on normal. Wide screen was an issue till I downloaded patches. It is fun, challenging, and has depth. I will keep playing through and will try online. What times are people on? – GA?

I havent been playing much, but if I see someone in the TS channel I will have a game with them.
The default sounds ARE poor, there are various sound mods out, depends on your preference as to which one you use. GA server is not very good, hardly used and mainly default missions, would be ok I guess for your first foray online but wont be many there to provide assistance. OGN or XGN servers are the best.
