OK... basically, I've heard that it's crap. I've heard it's choppy, laggy, low frame rate... not as good as OFP... and some other stuff.

What I really want to hear, are the good things. Are there any?? I know many of you have it, and are probably playing it rather than posting, so please, can we have a show of support for this game?

I'll be getting into is soon, but so far I've heard much negativity, and little positivity. Hows about some over-all review type stuff?

Gday all

Ok bought the German copy online the other day, it has already been patched so dont patch it. I then installed the english patch with no troubles at all.

I have a half decent pc so I put everything on high and had a game :O all I can say is sweeeet If you want realism for a game you got it. Im actually blown away by it lol from single player to online Coop and multiplay it all ran great no hickups to speak of and the eye candy is impresive to say the least.
Game play from what I have played so far is intense lol Soon as you hear guns you drop to the deck haha and so does everyone else. There aint no room for rambo in coop maps the AI are pretty smart and take you down before you know it. Once you die in coop you fly about as a seagul lol until your team dies or wins. On one Multiplayer map I played you respawned not sure about the rest.

I play alot of Americas Army and a bit of the BF2 series but imo ArmA blows them away not just in realism but the whole package. Load times are quick, Install was breeze, no crashes to desktop, servers are easy to join, I like it
I have never played OFP so I cant compare the two, but after only playing ArmA for a couple of days I would say its a good buy if you like the less arcade style of fps.

O and there are already Aussie servers running XGN have one WooT

Hey me too!

Ok spill the beans, Dads.
What's your spec? (It's great to give other potential TOG buyers some direct feedback as to how demanding it is on their current rigs.)

I have the trackir, I use it for rFactor (Racing sim) and any flying games I play (Except BF2) Would be interested to get it running in an FPS situation

Yea it would be very handy for Arma not only the infantry head movement, but for the tanks and choppers and other vehicles in it.

I've got TrackIR. I find it's good for flying but I don't find it very good for infantry yet. It might just need some adjustment to the sensitivity curves in TrackIR setup, but I don't know how to do that yet. The vertical movement is much too sensitive. It kind of needs a vertical floating aimpoint concept too.

For infantry, I will have to try it in both floating aimpoint and fixed aimpoint modes, to see if that makes a difference.

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. I wish I knew they were going to have the online download option available so soon, since I would have used that. Early speculation was that it wouldn't happen until Feb, so now it's on the slow boat to Australia.

We might need to start some other topics soon on: Mission Editing, MP feedback, Organising MP matches or maybe a MP player list to see who's interested, who's got the game and what people want to try (i.e. Co-op, public Team play, CTI, etc).
