In my experience with non-numerical ping displays, more is better, ie: the longer/higer the bar the stronger the connection. Is there any chance that the aussie servers have to "talk" to overseas servers, then route back to Au? Or is there even any dedicated servers for the game in Au? which would mean that ALL servers are on residential connections. I have ADSL2+ and I wouldn't really be game to host more than 16 players from my connection in ANY game.

Voics: I thought one box was the lowest ping. I'd find it hard to believe there are 50 low-ping (i.e. 3-box) servers in Aust.
I sort the servers via the ping column, then I presume the upper 3-box servers (closest to the 2-box servers) are the lowest ping. Jeansy: Afaik, the laser designator, along with the artillery guns, require scripting to perform any useful function. It was like that in OFP. The_Fiddler: There are some dedicated servers is Aust. See the servers thread. If you're hosting your own server, you often only need 4-8 players anyway, especially if it's coop. Stompya: What do you mean by: "...most of the coops work thru the single player..." ? I play the coop maps in SP by starting a locked MP server. You shouldn't need to copy anything. |

Allows you to save it too? - cool. Thanks for that.
Yeah, the scripting part means it is up to the mission designer to provide functionality for the laser desig or artillery to operate. It probably has an event or action associated with it, which then needs to be associated with a response. Eg: Laser desig might have a "point at ground" action associated with it's fire mechanism, which then needs to be linked to a script to tell an AI jet to fly to and bomb that selected point. |
