No, I'm quite sure 1 box is lower ping.
I join a server with 2 boxes and ping is say 65,
I join a server with 3 boxes and ping could be 350.
So 1 box is probably < 50 or LAN quality.

I came across some of the mod work for new islands/towns being done and it looks very good. We should be seeing quite a lot of large scale quality work very quickly, due to the history of OFP.

Here's the TCW Objects project discussion thread for an Iraq island and objects. It's a shame, but apparently many of the ArmA modding tools have not been released yet, which is delaying things a bit.

Sample images:
Untextured city objects
City objects 1
Heavy vehicles
City objects 2
Balcony view

it would be good to see a guide to mission making, ive tried the mission editor and gave up after finding its more suitable for single player missions

im trying to get my mind around making co-op maps and other mp maps with no success, i found i cant add objects like ammo crates bunkers etc

is there a way to add these things without knowing the source code for OP or is this a case i have to suck eggs for now till there is a program that can do such a thing

These items should be under Units > Empty > Objects.
But in ArmA I don't think the Empty class shows up until you've placed down a player unit... so try doing that first.

For other hints and tips check out BI's mission editing thread http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bi...i?;act=SF;f=71

OFP Editor's Center was set up for OFP but it might still be worth a look, had a lot of good info back in the day: http://www.ofpec.com/

Ever wonder where those MP Missions you play online get downloaded to?

C:\Documents and Settings\<profile name>\Local Settings\Application Data\ArmA\MPMissionsCache

I wish I knew this earlier, so I could edit them. They're not visible in your MP mission list, so you need to copy them there if you want to host a game with them.

Jeansy, PM me if you've got any editing questions. I'm more than happy to discuss them. Having heaps of fun editing and without getting heavily into scripting files yet, just using some scripting commands.

Like Voics said, you can add the 30 or so public objects by default. To get another 200+ objects, you'll need to add 6thSense.eu's EditorUpdate (patches your files, so back them up) or Germany 1985's Editor Update (but I don't recommend this one due to it's dependence on a mod file). The full list of object available then are viewable using the HTML download (39mb) in this forum topic building classes. Use IE rather or FireFox's IE addon to view it though.

The ArmA demo has been updated to 1.03 build 5116 (10 Jan 2007). Some nice improvements in this changelog to look forward to in the next patch.

* Push to talk - should be good.
* New MP Screen - now includes ping & mission name!

I finally decided to release my larger (17520 x 17520 pixel) version of the Sahrani map. (26mb jpg file)

See BI forum post for details.

I had a tinker with the demo and found it all way too hard with insufficient instructions to easily determine how to control squad mates etc.
Is there anything I've "obviously" overlooked?

Best thing is to get on TS and ask us, it only takes a few pointers, actually very easy with someone helping you out. It can be daunting at first if you havent played OFP and have no one around to help.
