Well that's good news!

Ok, system specs:

AMD64 X2 4600+
2GB DDR
MSI 8800GTS (320MB)
Windows Vista 32bit Home Premium
And as for the driver... ForceWare Version 158.24

I am running XP on my other drive, so maybe I'll swap to that if Vista is the key issue. Otherwise, I might try the 162.22 drivers.

However, I don't think it's a system issue with my most recent in-game problem. I get the feeling it's a bug.

So the problem I faced last night, was during my third training session (Squad Leader) I moved my team into the APC, out of the APC, and into the "line" formation required. I was then supposed to target the car in the distance, and have my team shoot it to pieces. No matter what command I gave them, they'd give me a "Roger, entering Vehicle" and then proceed to run to it, and stand there looking lost.

Sure it's not a big issue, but it came on the tail end of three hard reboots due to assorted problems, and it just feels like a buggy piece of crap... so far. I truly WANT to play this game, and really want to like it! So any help to get me past the minor problems, and into the fun bits would be of great assistance.

Any while I'm boring you with my problems, I'll ask this one too!! How the hell do I hit my targets on the rifle range with the grenade launcher? Everything else I'm getting pretty much 100%, but this... it's blind luck if I hit anything! Is there some trick to knowing the elevation level?

If not... bah.

Thanks fellas.

Scrap that... I think it's just me!! I guess I'm used to games being a certain way, and from what I've seen in both the demo, and the retail so far, the game forces you to be that certain way! So now I'm trying to figure out the next step with Helo flying...

Game looks amazing...

Hi Spectre, good to see you've got the game. Hope to see you online soon.

July has been a bit of a quiet month here at TOG, but I think that'll pick up again soon. I'll be back into it fully in about another week. ArmA's my favourite game, but the opportunities are not always available to play it under the conditions you may want. There are quite a few game modes and a lot of variation in each for various missions, providing a large scope. Not all combinations are fun, so you need to look out for your favourite areas. Even choosing favourite missions is difficult, compared to other games.

I don't think ArmA has reached it's potential yet - it's going to need some inovative mod's, islands and missions and I reckon these will only come over the next 6-12 months. So you'll need to perservere and find your niche area in the meantime.

@Stompya, no I haven't tried XAM 1.3 yet. I don't have the download resources for such a big download. Will switch ISP's this month. I'm totally suprised they're allowed to release it, since it contains a huge chunk of ArmA's images and source code fully replicated.

I had the prievious ver and didn't really see anything good in it, everything seemed to be "faked" in it and limited in usability. The latest version was probably their biggest release so far, but I still doubt it's of major importance yet (IMO). Will wait and see.

I'm back into mission editing now and hope to have a mission completed in 1-2 weeks for a try.

It's very good to hear how good this game is. I don't want to sound too degrading at all, but so far, for me, it's absolutely terrible! Keep in mind, I actually like this game!!

I never really played Operation Flashpoint, and this game really feels like it's an add-on pack, rather than a stand alone game. The tutorial is far from detailed, as is the manual. Essentially, I'm struggling to understand the core principals of the game, and it's engine. I know that with time, I'll come to understand it well, and only then will I appreciate it... So I'll stick with it.

Until that time, there's no point in me trying the online elements. I've only just started the single player campaign, and I see I'll be a long time working my way through it.

It seems to be a game of opposites in many ways. The graphics are ugly... yet stunning at the same time! It feels counter-intuitive, but it's actually closer to the norm than almost any other game out there. The game, as mentioned by just about everyone that loves it, is essentially a beginning. I truly am looking forward to where it may go.

Best thing to do is jump online with some of us, maybe we could setup a date, we can play coops on our own server, you will learn the game a lot quicker that way. I didnt touch the tutorials, only played a third of the campaign, it was when I jumped online and chatted ingame to others, and then started talking to Doc on TS, that I actually started learning how to play it properly. This is a game for teamwork, I found it became very boring if you tried to lonewolf too much.

Ive been having a small break this last few weeks, as Dr said we all seem to have taken a break at the same time, there is apparently a tourney starting up so might be time to start back up again

It looks like the OGN ArmA Tournament Competition is finally organised, with the OGN ladder containing 5 teams so far and is due to start 8 Aug. Unfortunately, it probably doesn't apply to TOG yet, but it would be worth checking out and monitoring for future reference.

P.S. The TOG admins said this forum may be changed from public to private at some stage if the advertising spam, etc doesn't stop. Presumably, if this happens, then you may lose access to the forum, so at some stage you may be required to be registered/listed with the ArmA forum for access. Just a heads up.

The issue with spam has been taken care of with some new fancy footwork done behind the scenes. If that was the only reason for going private, and keeping public is a benefit, I'd suggest speaking up.

As far as the single player game is concerned, I'd rather get to know the game at least a little, before heading online. I have little doubt that that is where I'll learn the real game... I'm just not ready for it yet, but will be soon I hope.

I've posted up on OGN about the latest progress made with AAS v2 (Advance and Secure ver 2) template and missions being developed by 16AAB. I see it as the first step to better TvT missions.

There's still a long way to go to match something like the AAS v2 of BF2: Project Reality mod, but it's a very good start.

I'm making good progress on my I.C.E. project.

See BIS forum here for details, if you're interested.
