General comments
Post anything you like here (relevant to ArmA).
I thought it would be worthwhile to have a thread to just post quick comments and chat about the game - things which are not 'breaking news' items. We can start specific topics later too for bigger topics.
It will also help keep the specific topic threads cleaner.

Those latest air-strike and artillery videos are fantastic. Wow factor of 9 for the air-strikes.
I've ordered 2 copies of the German version of ArmA from BuyArma.com. Looks like the language change-over is pretty straight forward. Should be playing by early December.

Who's the 2nd copy for, good buddy j/k
Tell me about your set-up with co-op and your mate's PC, Doc ...
Will you host a SP server and your mate join it via IP address?, or will you both jump onto Euro servers and play MP?

Im guessing there will be a few full time Aussie servers running, fully expect OGN to run a couple (they have 2 Flashpoint servers running still, 1 coop and one other mode)

Yeah, that's how the co-op works.
As for general MP, I won't be playing on Euro servers, I'll be on Aussie servers mate. Check the OGN post here Links: Official, Wiki, Fan Sites and Servers, for one example. It has details that they will be hosting the German version until the official 505 English version comes out.
You might not be able to tell by looking at this forum, but this game has a large following in Australia. You need to check out many other forums to see. TOG players are so far behind following Armed Assault and tactical games in general, it's not funny.

Doc do you know if the German one has the dreaded copy protection like the Czech version?
If not, bugger waiting for 505 to get their act together, I'll be back at uni by then... might as well play it earlier and get it out of my system.

Never had a problem with the copy protection systems so far. I've even installed demos which had it and didn't know it until someone told me. It doesn't affect most people, but those it does affect, it seems it can be a major problem.

Yeah I'd rather not risk it, but it seems the German version's safe.
This BuyArmA.com is just one private individual, collecting money left right and centre and promising to ship german versions of the game as soon as it's released... on a non-profit basis, for 'humanitarian' reasons, LOL.
Well there's my $107 riding off into the sunset... LOL

I just got confirmation from Morphicon that they will use SecuROM for their copy protection.

I've seen a few unit screenshots but held off commenting in case they were pre-release... but Doc the RAR file you linked to seems to be definitive.
So I gotta say I'm a bit dissapointed with their choice of vehicles, as well as the limited variety (for performace reasons?)... all of which limits creative mission-building.
As expected, the mantra is 'it will be modded', but belated unit add-ons will not improve the SP campaign - and unless they gain universal acceptance they will fragment the MP community over the long-term.
Hope the 505 release will restore some of the goodies. Until then, fingers crossed for this German copy!
