New older gamer application
Greetings!
I started playing computer games back when it meant text-based "Adventure" on the college mainframe. Anybody else remember the limited commands N, S, E, W, U, D and L? Since then, it has been mainly single player games for me, but recently won a copy of Vanguard SOH, tried it and love the comraderie of the MMO game. So, just shy of 50 years old and with kids who are hooked on Club Penguin and other kids' online community games, I am applying for membership in The Older Gamers. I have already been admitted to the guild on Targonor and have greatly appreciated the help from TOG members, even though my rank newbie questions sometimes are met with resounding silence. (Hey, at least you all don't send back the messages telling me how dumb I am even if you are thinking it!)
As a risk manager, I am used to reading all the fine print in contracts, licensing agreements and insurance policies. So, when I read through the AUP, the FAQ and the forum/server guidelines, they seemed refreshing straightforward and filled with common sense.
Living in the Puget Sound area in Washington, my other interests are mostly outdoor oriented - sailing, hiking, orienteering. My kids are old enough now to enjoy doing those with me and my wife, when I can tear them away from the computer or the Dance Dance Revolution console. I personally play Vanguard from the time I can get the kids into bed (9:00 if I am lucky) until much too late in the night. It is fun to see the greetings coming in from TOG members who are obviously in different parts of the world - "Good afternoon" from Roo, when it is 2:00 AM PDT.
I thought I had already met the requirements for "full" membership in TOG, but when I try to follow the recommendation to check what's new at the Vanguard Forum daily, it keeps telling me I am not authorized. So my old, tired brain finally figured out I had missed this key step. Will you please be kind enough to get me fully enrolled?
Thank you in advance,
Coeur de Lion
