Looking to join up
Name: For the purposes of this forum, my name is Featherdustr.
Age: 31 almost 32
Game: World of Warcraft
Server: Runetotem -- I play both Alliance and Horde. My main is on the Alliance side and currently guildless. I'm told by my wife that this means I'm interested in joining Titans of Glory.
FAQ and AUP: I read through the FAQ and the AUP. As per usual, terms of service is mindnumbingly dull, but I forged on through it anyways. The joys of legal statements and the unfortunate need to have to cover every conceivable use or misuse of any given service. Has to be done of course.
As for the FAQ, I certainly have to agree with one purpose: By eliminating all persons under 25, you eliminate a lot of stupidity. It's sad to say, as there are many well mannered and well behaved younger people, but I think this community has come to the same conclusion as myself: It's just not worth the hassle of having to put up with the giant mass of bad eggs in that age group.
About Me: Well, what can I say about myself. I work in IT and am a hobbyist geek and video game addict. I got hooked young ... yeah, I'm one of those "started on the Atari 2600." The first video game I ever played was Pong ... I think it was on an Atari. So yeah, I'm one of those guys. My video game addictions have followed technology, so I leave behind the old and pick up the new ones and leave the past in the past for the most part.
My wife and I just got started on World of Warcraft earlier this year. We've had a lot of fun, but we keep having terrible luck with guilds, particularly on the Alliance side. We had played in a lot of guilds in other MMORPG's and we've always been good contributing members in the guilds we belong to. Unfortunately, we've had quite the string of bad luck on WOW so far. In spite of this, we've made some good friends.
One of my favorite thing to do in MMO's is to jump in and help out someone new. Sounds crazy, I know, but I enjoy it a lot. The other day, I helped a Horde guild mate out. He was new to the game and only mentioned wanted to get a "more unique" pet for his hunter. So I walked him waaay into Darkshore (from Crossroads) and we found him the "cat of his dreams." We had to gain him a level to get the one he wanted. We searched for the flight point in Dark Shore. I gave him some spare meat and gave advice on how to keep his pet fed, happy and loyal. I helped advise him on setting up some useful macros for his hunter. That's an example of stuff I will do when I see the opportunity. Ordinarily, I wouldn't even mention it, but I'm assuming that people will be reading this and trying to decide if I'm worthwhile as a guild member.
My wife and I are extremely self-sufficient gamers. We don't beg and we don't care a great deal for those who do beg, but frequently. For us, being in a guild is about hanging out with friends ... people you'd love to meet and hang out with IRL. I hope that's what we find here.
