Hello! and Application

Hello, I came across TOG a while ago but never found a reason to join before (mistakenly) getting hooked on World of Warcraft this week. It seems like fun, but the level of social interaction often leaves me cringing. So I thought some friendly TOGers might be way to experience some of the multiplayer facets of the game without needing to be abused by pre-teens. I've seen references to a TOG guild for WOW, but couldn't find anything now in the forums, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction (if I get approved!)

So, on to me and the application. I've been a gamer (old skool D&D and wargames) and computer gamer since I myself was a pre-teen (I guess they're not all bad). My first computer was a PCjr, if that gives you some idea on my vintage. For online multiplayer, I really only play some casual Counter-Strike: Source, but let's see where TOG leads me... (to my girlfriend's certain horror). I am a Canadian from Vancouver, but have been living on the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, Finland for the past ten years. I'm currently completing my PhD in International Relations and lecture in our university's Arctic Studies Program.

I can confirm that I am 35 years old. Born in May 1972, the week that Oh Girl by the Chi-Lites was #1 on the Billboard charts, and T-Rex's Metal Guru was #1 in the UK. Pictures and random blog postings should further confirm this.

I have read the AUP and the very informative FAQ, and forum/server guidelines and agree to all their terms and conditions. TOG really sounds like the place where I belong.

Have I forgotten anything? I hope not. Let me know how this goes and I look forward to being a member of the TOG community!

I don't know if I fully understand it myself, but somehow it makes perfect sense. Vancouver is great, and will always be home. But I'm more of a small-city type person. The North is where it's at.
