Signed up,now need to become active.

Hi,
I have signed up to become a TOG member,and would like to particiapate as an active TOG member.
I am only new to online gaming, as of about four weeks ago,and have only been playing COD2 up to this point.
I am 45 yrs old,and presently live in Sydney.
I have read the FAQ's and rules of behaviour,and would like to get amongst the REAL action with the rest of the TOG army.(I mean,who wants to be a medic in COD2 ?).
I am not in any clan or group,and i feel TOG is the right place to become acquainted with other players,and also learn the etiquette(i.e. - killing other opposing TOG members,,,and non-members)and also becoming more proficient playing COD2.
The TOG rules and requirements of behaviour are what i would expect and wish for while playing COD2,and hopefully other great games.
I have seen a little of the poor behaviour and language online recently,and wish not to be part of the less than polite(for want of a better description at this time)of the online gaming community,and prefer to align myself with the responsible people online.It is, after all ,supposed to be for everyone's pleasure ,not just for those who consider themselves above treating others with respect,as that respect that is shown to them.

My only question is this.
How to enter a COD2 game as a TOG member ?
I have been using my gamespy name previously,and accessing through my COD2 CD.
Still trying top become familiar with navigating,as i am only new to online gaming,so any assist would be marvellous.
Ok, one more quickie.
Do i need to download or activate any mods for games which have these mods activated,or is this automatic ?
