I have read the FAQ, the AUP, the TOS, the FSG and any other TLAs that might exist. I also have read the side of a cracker box, the ingredient of my maple sugar candy (no, not 'ingredients'; it's singular), and the back of this soda can while wondering if the lag I'm experiencing is a test to weed out the impatient or if I've just got a really bad route here.

My birthday was on Sunday. I turned waaaaaaay older than 25.

My fiancé and I are currently trying to figure out if we can afford to start playing an MMO again, and I thought it'd be nice to actually know some other people playing. More than likely when we do go back to online games, it'll be WoW, though we've also played City of Heroes and play Puzzle Pirates sometimes since that we can do for freeish (we play on Sage right now). We're decidedly casual players, not so much in terms of time invested but rather in terms of not being interested in hardcore raiding or whatever, and also the occasional disappearing from a particular game for 5 or 6 months while we go play something else instead. Though we like playing as a pair and are pretty successful at it, we're both interested in RP and would sort of like to have a casual guild to be in so we have the option of doing larger groups. Certainly having someone to chat with would be nice even if we are off by ourselves in terms of the killing-things part.

Also, having someone to do Arathi Basin with who will actually leave defenders at the stables would be nice. (Yeah, that means we play Alliance, though we're planning on delving into the Horde side at some point. We might just start over entirely, depending on who we meet and who plays where and when we start, so it could go either way.)

In addition to WoW and CoX and YPP, I also really like The Sims 2, which I'm currently recreating custom content for after a nasty hard drive crash, and I'm a Final Fantasy fangirl. I even own the first few discs of the FFU anime, because I'm a sucker for anything with the words 'Final Fantasy' on it. We own a PS2 and have a few non-FF games for it, too. We also play UT2004 and Civ4.

Super to hear from you. I am sure an admin will be by shortly to take care of your application.

In the meantime, while reading your app I have noticed a few things of interest. First off, I noticed you said you are a casual gamer, but you seem to stuck on lots of games geared towards the more hard-core gamer, such as WoW, with their astronomical subscription fees.

Perhaps you would care to take a shot at a "free to play" game like Guild Wars. It just passed it's 2 year mark a few months ago, but it is still a thriving environment. You can log in, get a party together and go questing in a matter of minutes, and the amount of content in the game will keep you playing for more than a fair share of time. All this and all it costs is the price of one of the games (there are 3 separate games + 1 expansion pack) and they are all rather cheap now considering it is FREE to play online.

Good luck in your gaming endeavors and have fun. Stop by the Guild Wars forums if this sounds interesting to you.

Peace, Defender

Heh, I don't really think of $30/month for two people as 'astronomical', to be honest... most people spend more than that on movies or alcohol, and we don't go out to movies and don't drink. We're on a tight budget right now but it's more "do we have anything else we want to be getting or can the leisure money go here instead" at this point... but we played CoX casually for about 15 months and WoW casually for about 9 and we really like the games, we just have a hard time finding other people who play the way we do... We actually were in SGs in CoX, nice people but way faster-moving than us, plus, well, personal thing I won't get into here, but if we go back we probably won't rehook up with the same people.

I did look at Guild Wars and there's always a chance we'll give it a try, but right now that would mean buying copies X two of everything, and that's a bigger outlay. Yes, I know we wouldn't need all the expansions but I'm an expansion addict, can't imagine just buying one piece of a game, y'know? But we might try it out at some point anyhow.

Anyhow, yay for really quick approvals, and I'm gonna go peruse some of the other fora now.
