Default Greetings all, new membership application

Hi everyone,

Just taking a few moments to introduce myself - I'm a 28 year old gamer from Australia. My nick is taken in jest from Top Gun, because Val Kilmer is razor ice cold, unlike my racing. And he plays a mean round of beach volleyball. You can usually find me on rFactor, working my way up the simpler cars, or sometimes on the Australian TF2 servers. I have read the AUP and FAQ, and certify in a kangaroo court of law that I am over 25. I was introduced to TOG via another member (you know who you are, and thanks again). Looking forward to seeing all you greying racers trackside! (quick tip: give me a wide berth if you see me)

Paul.

Thank you Squeezer, its nice to be a member here.

A quick rFactor question: can you recommend any servers safe for beginners?

I'd love to jump into some Fun Thursday races but really need some tuition otherwise I'll be ticking off experienced racers left right centre. I was on a Spanish language Megane server which was quite beginner-friendly (didn't understand a word of the chat, but racing is an international language, right?). I get the feeling that since I'm really new to sim racing and online sim racing specifically I'm missing out on a lot of assumed knowledge to do with car setups, vehicle choice (my Megane seemed to be a different and slower class to all the others), on-track etiquette, and little things like exactly what the pit speed limit is, configuring custom pit requests, etc. I've read some of the guides but nothing compares to real-world experience.

Cheers and be nice if you pass me on track.
