[DONE] New Membership and Greetings from Little Singapore

Hello All, i am really happy to submit and make the acquaintances of such a wonderful group of "matured" gamers.

I am presently 32 years old, married to a beautiful wife and a proud papa of a 3 year-old precocious little girl. I work as an asst. manager in sales and marketing for the Kaplan Education Group in Singapore. Hence due to work and familial reasons, my time is pretty much stretched very thin.

I have grown up on a staple of games from the Amiga, Apple and Atari days and the King's Quest series on the PCs. Since i was a wee lad of 10 -11 years old, i have never stopped playing video games and that passion has only gotten stronger over the years.

I love CRPGs first and foremost with all the SSI-TSR D&D games and the Baldur's Gate series by Bioware as my #1 favourites of all time. That is probably due to my first love - Reading. I loved to read ever since i was 8 years old (hence my messed up eyesight) and i have always been a fan of the fantasy genre and i would love to talk more about this here but it would probably be too long winded. So it is no surprise that once i was finanically able to obatin my own credit card a few years back i made the foray into my 1st MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI (Galka Paladin on Ragnarok server - Soulin). My Singapore guild sort of died and i was tired of the grind so i moved on to DDO as i am a huge D&D fanboy but ... well, i just could not really get into the whole instanced world and Stormreach. If only it was set in either Krynn or Faerun...

Being a JRR Tolkien fan, LOTRO was a must and i am proud to be a life-long subscriber. I am primarily on the Elendilmir server as "Jeren" a lvl. 46 Lore-master. My guild has disbanded and i would love to join any TOG guild if they would like to have me.

Much hype about AoC and there is a Singaporean guild "Radical Dreamers" on that Gwahlur server, which was actually my old LOTRO Kinship but they all got bored of LOTRO and ported over to AoC. I am presently playing a Bear Shaman in AoC with the Radical Dreamers and my character's name is "Jerenc". Phonetically, it would sound almost identical to "Jeren" except that the second syllable is pronounced "ren-k" with a soft "ek" sound..an almost non existent "k".

Although i do play FPS like Crysis and F.E.A.R. but i am afraid to venture onlne for fear of being ridiculed by my less than split-second hair trigger reflexes. I do not not mind getting "pwned", i just dislike the immature boasting and "tea-bagging" which i had seen in my foray on the Enemy Territories: Quake Wars demo (although i did pwn quite a few as well with a reported 70+% accuracy on a wireless mouse + keyboard no less).

Please excuse the long-winded post and basically, this is just to say "Yo!" and if you gents and ladies do see a poor BS called "Jerenc" on AoC getting pwned.... please don't tea bag me, ok?

There are a couple of things that need to be taken care of, before an admin can make you a full member of TOG:

There are some key things you MUST state in order to be considered for membership. These include:

1. You are over 25.
2. You have read and AGREE to abide by the TOG Code of Conduct
3. You have read and AGREE to and abide by the TOG Acceptable Useage Policy (AUP)
4. You have read and AGREE to abide by the Forum & Server Guidelines
5. You have read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Document.
6. You have read and AGREE to abide by the Signature and Avatar Guideline.

Once you've read everything, and decide you can agree to the terms, drop a post in this thread stating that you have and do.
I'm certain we'll be glad to have you as a TOGger.

Hello Hildulf!

Many thanks for the kind compliments on my introductory post (albeit it being extremely long-winded and probably irrelevant!)

I have tried to access the links but apparently they are all broken? However, i do believe that reading "trolling" the entire website, i pretty much understand what being a member of TOG entails.

I hereby confirm that i am over 25 years of age. I am 32 actually as mentioned in my 1st post. Born in Singapore on June 26, 1976. Do i need to submit any documentary proof of that? If that is needed, just let me know. I can scan my identity card and email to you for privacy reasons.

I must first admit that due to work and family commitments, i am pretty much a "casual" gamer and being in a much different time zone (GMT +8 hours), i am worried that i might not be able to fit into many of the hardcore activities which TOG might require of their members at stipulated times as i believe that most of you are based in either Europe or in the U.S.A? However, i am hoping that there might be some Singaporean or Malaysian members whom i can gel with in the activities.

I am basically applying for membership in TOG for Lord of the Rings Online on the Elendilmir server, if TOG has a guild / kinship there.

I am still pretty torn between joining the TOG guild on AoC or carry on with the Radical Dreamers. After a hiatus of about 3 weeks, i returned to AoC with a new character which is not under the Radical Dreamers and after a few conversations with the members and even guild officers, i feel rather alienated from them for a few reasons - the guild consist of mainly under 21s and they have no inkling of the lore and depth of Howard's works and the lore of Hyborea.

After reading the spotlight done by the official AoC website, i was wondering if i might be a better fit for TOG, age-wise etc but as mentioned, time is a huge factor and i am a causal player at best....

Nah.
It's more than just an age thing (though that's the cornerstone of TOG), all you're missing is to read and post that you agree to the rules of being a TOGger.
That's the important bit... letting the admins know that you do, indeed, agree with all the rules.

The Osgiliath Guard on Elendilmir is a great bunch to game with.

Many thanks for the clarifications again and this time round, the links are all in working order.

Yes. I have read all the relevant links and have understood them. In fact, i am 100% in support of them all and i am proud to say that i am always done them in my real and virtual life. As a point of reference, I am known as "slienthill" on the hardwarezone forums, particularly in the hardware clinic as well as the sports arena sub forums. If you would like to do a check on my posts and threads, i am happy to provide them here for your review.

TOG sounds like the ideal fit for me insofar as no trolling and disrespectful postings and my personal pet peeve, double posting of previously asked questions (due primarily to laziness...hence, my signature and if the language is too abusive, i will remove it although it was meant to be tongue-in-cheek and i love the movie!).

Again, i mention that i am 32 years of age and would be most happy to submit a scanned copy of my ID card and other relevant information for your review and reference.

Also, it is wonderful that TOG was initially based in Australia as the time difference there is about 2 - 3 hours faster than Singapore's and i have had a lot of wonderful dealings with Australians (particularly from Adelaide due to work) in my personal and professional lives.

Again, should my application be approved, i would like to just mention that i am a very casual gamer and if that is not a deterrent, i would love to be a member of the TOG and the Osgiliath Guard on the Elendilmir server for LOTRO.
