Greetings all,
First, let me begin by saying that I am over 25 years of age and have read and agree to abide by the TOG Code of Conduct. I have also read and agree to abide by the TOG Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP). Additionally, I read and agree to abide by the Forum and Server Guidelines. Still not satiated, however, I made the decision to proceed, and so I read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Document. Finally, with all this said and done, I felt it my obligation to read and agree to abide by the Signature and Avatar Guideline.
Furthermore, to supply evidence of my superior cutting and pasting skills, I submit the following:
- You are over 25.
- You have read and AGREE to abide by the TOG Code of Conduct
- You have read and AGREE to and abide by the TOG Acceptable Useage Policy (AUP)
- You have read and AGREE to abide by the Forum & Server Guidelines
- You have read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Document.
- You have read and AGREE to abide by the Signature and Avatar Guideline.
Having completed the compulsories, let us now move on to the bonus round.
First, I should inform you all that I am older than dirt. In less than 2 weeks, I will turn 47. It is only through a disciplined regiment of diet, exercise, and carefully chosen neckties that I have survived to such an astonishing age.
I began life as a zygote and within 15 years was a fully functioning multicellular gamer with my own computer (an Apple II). I also had a Magnavox Odyssey system, and an Atari Pong. By age 27, I was a SysOp for the Multiplayer Games Forum on a service known as Compuserve. I played two games there - Island of Kesmai and British Legends. British Legends was a MUD based game, meaning text only, no graphics. I hosted a twice weekly help conference for players of both games. After that came Ultima Online, Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes/Villains, Lineage 2, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Vanguard, Age of Conan (what a letdown!) and now... Warhammer. Additionally, I have beta tested a number of the aforementioned games, including Warhammer.
For the past 5 years I have been a member of a well known and accomplished PvP guild. I have also played with two successful end-game raiding guilds during my involvement with WoW.
So... if I'm a member of a large, successful, and currently active guild which is, at this moment, formed and active in the CE head-start on Warhammer, and my character is already up to level 12, running tier 2 scenarios, why am I here?
Well... much of that, possibly all of that... has to do with my age. You see, in my current guild, we are required to coordinate our leveling and PvP play via a Ventrilo server. Of late, it seems that my tendency to become annoyed with the immaturity of certain members of my guild has become more prevalent. In short, logging in to listen to some of the teenagers and early 20-somethings in my guild carry on with bratty, hip-hop style banter has become tedious to the point that I'm not sure I want to continue with it. I love winning, and I love the success and status of my current guild, but out of its 110 or so members, only about half a dozen of us are over 40, and of the more than 50 that are under 30, some of them can be quite annoying to listen to. I still have the skill and commitment, but my patience with immaturity is beginning to run out.
So, there you have it. I am a 47 year old professional, living in California, experienced in MMO's since the days of MUD (Multi User Dungeon) and looking for a group [read: guild] of like minded, organized, mature folks with whom to play and achieve end-game success in Warhammer. By the way, this would be for ORDER - having had my fling with Destruction, I now know I belong on the side of Order, playing a Dwarven Engineer. My playtime is quite flexible, and because my career allows it, I can devote several hours per day to playtime.
Other info about me: I have a wide range of hobbies, including weightlifting, cooking, sports, wine, photography, and travel. I also enjoy restoring slide whistles in my spare time, and donate several hours per week to the local badger shelter.
I look forward with great anticipation to hearing from TOG, as I feel I have a genuine contribution to offer, in addition to my always pleasant natural fragrance, which some have described as being slightly citrussy, with notes of cinnamon and vanilla.
Thank you, Older Gamers, and God speed your efforts to overcome and destroy younger gamers before they become... Hmm... I'm going to have to think about the ramifications of that one a bit more. In any case, adieu and thank you for considering my application. Hopefully it at least gave you a laugh or two.
