Greetings,
I'm a long time MMO player, recently started playing LotRO (yesterday), and so far enjoying it. I'm one of those dreaded WoW Tourist types, I like to try out new MMO's, but almost always go back to WoW. Currently going to be playing both LotRO and WoW, although taking a break from WoW, kinda burnt out on it.
MMO's I own:
Earth and Beyond
City of Heroes/Villains
Age of Conan
Warhammer Online
Dungeons and Dragons Online
EVE Online
EverQuest
World of Warcraft
Lord of the Rings Online
Runes of Magic
MMO's I'm looking forward to:
Blizzard's new IP MMO
World of Darkness
Champions Online
Copernicus
Fallen Earth
APB
Cities XL
Star Wars: The Old Republic
CrimeCraft
Diablo III (not an MMO, but eh)
About Me
I'm 33, Male, living in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I work midnights, might be switching to afternoons, at a customs broker. No kids, not married, but have a fat black cat (Sabbath) and American girlfriend (turns 25 in November). With both play WoW, she's a long time gamer also. I'm strictly PC Gamer, she also has a Wii and PS3.
Gaming History
MMO info is above, along with MMO's I'm looking forward to trying. I'm a long time gamer, in all forms. I've done p'n'p gaming like D&D and Warhammer Fantasy. Done tabletop Warhammer 40K. Done card games like Magic the Gathering. Done console gaming (Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis, Xbox, PS1, PS2, Wii, etc). But my heart has always been with the PC. Some alltime favorite games include SimCity, Civilizations, Diablo series, those old Sierra adventure games (Quest series), Fallout series, and way too many more to name.
I love MMO's due to allowing both social gaming and solo gaming. You (hopefully) can't cheat, it's a long-term project, and they really feed the OCD gamer in me. They also allow you to share experiences and accomplishments with others. Offline games just don't interest me as much, unless it's for the experience, like Fallout 3, but long-term, I find myself a dedicated MMO player.
WoW is the MMO I've put the most time into. In original WoW I played a Human Warlock (raider) and Human Warrior (Fury/Protection). In Burning Crusade I played a Belf Paladin (Holy) and in Wrath of the Lich King I play a Belf Death Knight (Frost DPS/Tank). I'm a casual player, without much time to raid due to work schedule and life in general.
I just started playing Lord of the Rings Online, and it's something very different, and so far I'm enjoying it. I'm a bit overwhelmed by how much there is you can do, how much to learn, but that's probably more from years of WoW playing and that I'm so acustomed to it. If I was able to play EVE Online, I should be able to handle LotRO.
Why TOG?
I'd like to join TOG because I do enjoy the company of gamers more my age who understand that people have real lives. What is extremely attractive is that TOG spans many games, is well established, and has a large community. Having others to game with, whatever MMO you may choose to be part of at any given time, is very nice. I've also heard the guild mentioned on other sites over the years, and more recently on one of the WoW podcasts I listen to. In time I might transfer my WoW, unknown as of yet, but would like to join TOG LotRO players for that experience. Maybe find out if there is a way to toggle all my bags open with a single key press (like in WoW).
So feel free to ask me anything. I hope to join TOG soon and enjoy some adventures in game with other players.
