Hello everyone. I posted a thread on the XFire forums asking if there were any communities for the over 30s. Someone replied about this one and it seemed just what I was looking for.
I am 34 and from London. My first gaming experience was with the Commodore 64 followed by the Amiga. I can't remember a lot of games I played then as the memory isn't that great although I do remember spending many an hour playing Moonstone with my mates. Plus Speedball 2, Laser Squad and Sensible Soccer.
I've not been into gaming a great deal since then at least until now. A few mates recently bought either XBox 360s or PS3s and although I was tempted, I work from home and already have a pretty powerful PC for this reason. So I opted for just upgrading it with a half decent graphics card.
My current games are Battlefield 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis Wars, Team Fortress 2, GTA IV, GRID, Burnout Paradise and Shadowrun. I tend to play the last 3 the most as they support the 360 controller for windows. I am not a big fan of mouse and keyboard input (which I know makes me a rare breed when it comes to PC gaming) due to the fact that it tends to mean needing to sit at a desk and play which isn't my thing. As I said, I work from home at a PC so the last thing I want to do is spend my evenings sitting at it. Instead, I bring the PC to the living room so I can crash out on the sofa and play. Keyboard and mouse isn't much use for this.
GTA IV I am going to sell anyway as it doesn't play that great on my PC anyway. I was warned it needs a hefty PC to play and I guess my PC isn't hefty enough.
Having said all that I am trying to get a bit more used to playing keyboard and mouse games now I have a wireless setup and am definitly looking to see what is popular around here.
As for my reasons for wanting to join TOG? They are quite simple really. In my short PC gaming experience, I find that PC gaming is riddled with cheats online and also kids being abusive, etc and just ruining the whole thing. So I am looking to get to play with people of a similar age.
(sorry ended up waffling on a bit longer than intended
