Howdy Folks
I'm an *ahem* "thirty-something" MMO gamer living in Southwest Colorado. My first MMO was WoW which I joined a couple of months after release. I played on Uther for several years as a casual leveler, hardcore raider (briefly), casual pvper, etc. I grew bored with Azeroth & Outlands and closed my account.
I tried my hand at LOTRO, Hellgate London & Tabula Rasa looking for an alternative to end game raiding. Hellgate was quite fun, but didn't feel like a social activity. LOTRO was very fun, in part because I was in a guild of folks my age, but my PC died one month into the game just as my workplace git very hectic. So I drifted away from it without ever meaning to do so.
Then came Warhammer Online. Beguiled with the promise of ORVR I joined the open beta and the ranks of Destruction. When it was fun it was great fun. When it wasn't... I can remember trying for hours to flip a zone only to fail due to point decay and no one to fight. I can also recall several fortress pushes which resulted in multiple server crashes. Then came the mergers. I regretfully closed my account in late December when I realized that everyone I had started playing the game with had left. I'm hoping against hope the game can turn itself around someday.
I bought WOTLK and played very casually for three months.
Recently I've been feeling the urge to play an MMO again. I'm in the Fallen Earth Beta but have decided not to play it after all. I've pre-ordered Aion and played in Beta Weekend 5 and am currently looking forward to playing in Beta Weekend 6.
I stumbled across TOG members in the forums of both the games mentioned above. That led me to read some of the posts here. Since many of the folks I've enjoyed playing with in the past were close to my age the idea of playing with a guild of older folks appeals to me. Warhammer taught me just how un fun an RVR MMO can be if you don't have a large group of friends to play with. So here I am ready to try something new.
I can remember my parents buying a Pong game. The Atari 2600 came later.
My first Pen & Paper RPG was the red Basic Dungeons & Dragons box. I've played many since.
I live in a small town which has slow internet by today's standards. Combined with my slow fingers it's safe to say I'll never win awards for my PVP prowess. As part of a group I'm sure I can do my part to help the legion.
I recently took a quiz to see what kind of internet gamer I am. While I'm not sure how accurate it is the results are as follows:
Socializer 80 Achiever 60 Explorer 40 Killer 20
Recalling the joy it sometimes gave me to snare a fleeing dwarf at range allowing my squig and a harem of witch elves to close with him I'm not sure about that last part. Since it gave RR points I suppose that could be the Achiever in me. I did feel rather bad for the fellow after all.
So that's me. I look forward to meeting folks.
