TOG - The Older Gamers

Ok, so I am probably older than most but new to TOG.

My name is Matt, I'm 44 and I live in Florida, USA and have known about TOG for awhile but decided to sign up to grow my circle of online gaming friends.

I got my first computer in 1979, an Atari 800 and to be honest, games were not what you did on your computer back then. It wasn't until I got my C64 that I started playing games on the computer. I had my first taste of the online community starting in 1982 when I became a member of Compuserv and rang up several hundred dollar phone bills monthly spending my time chatting and playing games. Thank God for the BBS and door games which saved my $$ from the evil online giant and allowed me to start connecting with both local computer users as well as international ones. (Thank you FIDONet)

The computer games led me to meet other gamers in the area and I started playing PnP RPG's such as D&D, Paranoia and HERO game system games. I also had a buddy who had created his own game system and played his games for many years.

In the 90's I drifted to multi-line BBS's and started playing TeleArena and MajorMud (Which is still played today if you can believe it). Some friends got sucked into Evercrack, but I managed to avoid that by getting addicted to Half-Life and its mod Team Fortress Classic. I played Star Wars Galaxies, WoW, City of Heroes, Age of Conan, Anarchy online and now currently play EVE online.

I am currently looking into playing Champions Online, AION and the new Star Wars MMO in the future, but for now going to focus on EVE and see where that takes me.

I'm a late night player and since I work long weekends weekdays are my most active times to play. Look forward to meeting you folks around the forums and the games. Bye for now
