elcome to the The Older Gamer Forums.
If you would like to join TOG, we ask that you make a new thread in the "Barracks" forum introducing yourself.
Here are some suggestions for your introduction post:
- What games are you currently play/looking to play with TOG?
Right now that would be Champions Online. I'm a bit of an MMO tart. I went back to WoW when it got patched and before that I was playing WAR and AoC. While I would assiduously hunt out casual rp guilds with a non-l33t atittude in each of these games my lack of continuity with games means just as soon as I've met a bunch of people who are fun to chat with in 'guild' I'm onto another game.
Seeing as you have members on many of these games I think I should have added two and two together and applied a couple of years back. Is my poor math excused by not being in school for over twenty years?
- What was the first gaming console you own or pen and paper game you played?
Gaming console? Well my brother and I got very excited over the very first paddle game that came out. I never owned an atari but the mums of friends who did got very used to cooking my supper. I've had pc's since apple designed windows & Gates took their idea but I only dumped my ps1 in a charity shop when I moved house again last year. pen and paper games would be D&D when it came in just too flavours, basic and advanced. Not really touched them since.
- Why do you want to join TOG?
Friendly chatter in guild/SG particularly late at night. My GF has kids and isn't into gaming so I'm either on the Wii with her boys or playing at being a responsible adult when I'm round hers and that's my priority so I want to game with people who are happy if I'm around but understand when I'm not. Equally I don't expect people to automatically want me to be their sidekick just cos I've a few hours to spare but a 'hi' would be nice.
- Tell us about yourself or anything else you'd like to share.
I turned 40 this year and am still playing toon MMO's. I've played CoH when it came out and only gave up 'cos the scandinavian mates I'd made online were giving up the game. Also tried many other games but I usually get a char levelled and then get bored endlessly waiting around looking for groups and quit for another game. Also been a bit of an altoholic in champions but I think i'm settling on a lightning char for solo play and a sorcerer if people are looking for a team member as I liked playing a shamie in Warhammer.
So, looking for a bunch of people who are relaxed and easy to get on with. i'm assured I usually am. If I need to rant I'll take it to the MMORPG forums and spare people here. I live in Cambridge (that is the UK one not north of the river from Boston) and tend to game in the evenings- particularly if I can't sleep
