[Champions Online] Dunnik's Application
Hail TOG,
I would like to humbly submit my Application to join The Omega Guard, which is of course TOG's online presence in Cryptic's new Superhero MMO, Champions Online (is there a game in which TOG isnt represented? Hello Kitty Island Adventure, perhaps).
In searching the Supergroup recruitment posts in the CO official forum, the TOG name immediately stood out, as being a (lower case) older gamer myself I have of course heard of the famous globe-spanning super gaming guild that is TOG. It would be an honor to be considered for membership in this prestigious and venerable organization.
My gaming resume is extensive and probably looks better than my actual IRL resume, hah. I've been a gamer since the dawn of the computer age, the first console games I played were on the 2600 and Collecovision. Back when consoles were dressed up in faux wood to blend in with the living room decor, haha. From there I graduated to PC gaming, but I've rolled a few natural 20's in AD&D in my time as well.
My first real "professional" gaming experience came in 2001-2002 with EA's Medal of Honor, the precursor to Call of Duty (the Devs of MOHAA left EA in disgust to form their own company, the rest is history) where I founded and lead the North Shore Regiment, an OGL #1 Ranked clan.
Once MOHAA was past its best before date, I ventured into the world of MMO's with City of Heroes, but soon got into this new MMO called World of Warcraft, and, like zillions of others, it's been part of my main gaming diet ever since.
Presently I'm the Execute Officer of <Fatal>, a WoW Raid Guild on the Alleria (US) server, where I play a DPS Warrior (and sometime tank). In December we'll be celebrating our 4 year anniversary! So perhaps you can appreciate why, for Champions Online, finding a guild with a history is important. And few if any Guilds have a history as long and varied as TOG.
I should mention that I remain committed to my WoW Guild, but that it's important to me to fit in some non WoW gaming time in my diet: a non-WoW apple a day keeps the doctor away! I precipitate that I can have my cake and eat it too: maintain my duties as a guild officer yet still fully participate in supergroup activities (esp perhaps with off-peak players). So I suppose I'd describe my App as slightly more casual as oppose to hardcore: I get enough hardcore in WoW, hah.
Thanks very much for your consideration, I hope I may have the privileged of one day displaying The Omega Guard over the head of my Champions Online hero, PROTOMECH!
