Introduction
Hi,
Angatyr here!
I have grown up playing games, the earliest one I can remember playing was the original Hero Quest (Sierra), which actually turned out to be a great aid to learning to read/write at the age of 6/7.
Other games definitely contributed to my development like the original Lemmings and The Incredible Machine.
Our home was strictly a PC household with no Consoles and certainly no MACs.
I purchased my first gaming machine at the age of 17 - a $2,000 PC, using most of my savings at the time.
My biggest long-term favourite genre has been Turn-Based and Real Time Strategy. My early favourites being Civilization II and Heroes of Might and Magic 2-4. I also used to enjoy flight simulators, but there have not been many good ones since the 90s.
I grew into quite the PC snob, looking down my nose at the inferior console gamers... Until my brother and mate coerced me into playing God of War on the PS2, and that started my love of all other games.
I now manage a GAME store in Canberra and appropriately own a PC, PS2 Slim, PS3 80Gb, 360 Elite, Wii, DS Lite and PSP 2000.
The key titles in recent years that I have loved are:
God of War (all of them)
Total War (series)
COD: MW (PC)
Batman: Arkham Asylum (just finished - brilliant!)
Uncharted
Dynasty Warriors (series)
Professor Layton and the Curious Villiage
Fallout (series)
The Witcher
Oblivion
Everything by Tim Schafer
Everything by Clover Studios (now Platinum Games)
Disgaea (series)
I am also a big fan of zombie/horror themes and in that vein, Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dead Space, Dead Rising and House of The Dead are all high on my list of memorable titles.
Titles I keenly await:
Borderlands
MW2
Scribblenauts
Brutal Legend
Bayonetta
God of War III
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Assassins Creed 2
many others
I also play many Tabletop and other games:
Warhammer 40k (Eldar, Necrons, Orks)
Warhammer (Skaven)
Mordheim (Skaven, Witch Hunters)
DND 4th ed (DM one group, play in another)
Dark Heresy (play)
Warhammer fantasy RP (play)
Magic: the Gathering
I have not yet enjoyed an MMORPG, having tried WoW, WAR, AoC and EO. The main reason for this is the repetitive gameplay (grinding), my lack of time and my general impetuous nature to play what I feel like playing instead of sticking to guild schedules.
I look forward to getting to know you all!
Cheers
