TOG - The Older Gamers

Hi all.

I've been meaning to join TOG since forever, but just never got around to it.

I'm 48 years old, live in the UK and have been an avid PC gamer since the days of the 486 SX25. My preference is FPS games but I also play the odd RPG and genre hybrid. I like both single player and muliplayer gaming but my experience of the latter is limited to just a small number of games.

I am a long time Planetside player (6 years) but I'm always looking for another game to play by way of a change. I did play Hellgate: London avidly but sadly that great game is now no more (but thankfully the Revival project might change that). I also played Tabula Rasa but that went down the tubes as well.

I've tried Aion, LoTR Online, Savage 2, Left4Dead, Killing Floor and Spellborn. I either didn't enjoy them at all or I quickly grew tired of them. I own a few online games that I've never tried, including UT3, CS:Source and DOD Source. I've just bought and tried Section 8 and it seems pretty good.

I'm pretty keen to try some new games. Co-op play interests me greatly and I'm quite looking forward to playing Borderlands and gaming with people more in my age group as well as our younger friends.

After reading your post and the list of games you've tried and enjoyed, I can't help but ask - have you tried Fallen Earth? It's a FPS style RPG set in a post apocalyptic setting that is quite simply amazing. The game is very well written, humorous, and highly addictive. I think you'd really like it.

I missed FE out in my list...old age is affecting my memory

I played right through closed and open beta. I might still buy the game at some point but I didn't particularly enjoy the combat side of things. It is an interesting game with considerable depth though so I haven't dismissed it entirely. If I end up buying it I will definitely take you up on your kind offer.
