Hi, my name is Paul, I come from the North of England, with strong links to the South of Australia.
The very first gaming console I played on was one of those plug in to the TV, bat and ball (or dot and line) games that was 'the next best thing' in the late 70's. I was hooked then, and have continued to enjoy 'computer games' over the years through ataris, spectrums, dragon32!!, etc.. I remember when we bought our first PC in '97, and installed Doom,- Anne, whom I had just married, became a disgruntled computer widow, for a few weeks anyway. Of course, the real test on our relationship was to come soon after when 'Age of Empires' would be released. I think Anne adopted the policy of 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'. So, after 13 years of happy marriage, the majority of our disagreements revolve around who should be on the computer! We currently have our PC, a Wii and an Xbox.
I currently enjoy playing the Call of Duty games, Left for Dead, and more recently, Borderlands. That being said, I also enjoy most types of games, particularly those that don't require too much thinking about, as I play to unwind and also for a touch of recreational escapism.
I would like to join TOG for three reasons.
Firstly, both my wife (smokeyjobe), and my brother-in-law (barfarina), are TOG members, and continually bully me to get involved!
Secondly, I particularly enjoy playing online with barfarina, but I'm not too confident playing with people I don't know, - I'm not all that great at any game, and I enjoy the acceptability, patience and tolerance from barfarina, whilst playing. I would look forward to playing with easy going and/or similarly minded people.

Lastly, having learnt about TOG, I understand the main ethos is that of mutual respect, along with serious fun without being too serious, with an easy going nature.
I am 39 years old, and married to a South Aussie. We don't have any children, but we do have two cats. We own and run a business in Cumbria, England, with my brother. Both my wife and I like to spend time unwinding when we can, by playing a few games. We both have many other interests, and our greatest passion, time and funds permitting, is travelling.
Thanks for your consideration.
Paul
