Hello.
By way of introduction, I go by the handle of Tancred. Previously I had used Cynic or Rogue, however on purchasing World of Warcraft in 2004 I realised I had to choose a name that was appropriate and was in keeping with the environment. I've used the handle across all genres since then.
My first gaming console was the next door neighbour's sega megadrive, unfortunately my experiences were limited to friend's consoles due to a perception that gaming was inappropriate. The PC was thankfully perceived to be the lesser of the evils and I earnt my spurs on all of the early Sierra titles including Police/Space/Kings Quests and I still remember whilst playing Leisure Suit Larry, shopping at the drug store and asking my parents what prophelatics were!

D & D was also the devil's work, but I managed to hook up with a local club whilst at Uni. Suffice to say, I had a protected childhood where these influences were seen as undesirable, I know my parents had the best of intentions.
I now look back at about 17 years of solid gaming. My preferred platform is the PC and I don't share the attraction of consoles with PC being the platform with a more mature gaming experience, ie FPS, RPG, MMO.
I'm currently playing Dragon Age Origins, COD 4, COD MW2 and continue to exist on a social level on the Spinebreaker server of World of Warcraft. I've explored the concept of Eve Online, but do not trust myself to even trial it. With regard to MMO, my experience is limited to (and will remain so) to WoW. I played competitively from early 2005 until end of 2006 in a guild called Requiem. It remains one of the most enjoyable and addictive experiences of my gaming life. We were often at the leading edge of content and after we disbanded prior to the Burning Crusade expansion many of our members left to join Risen and Death and Taxes, testament to the quality of our players. What was most important to me however was the strength of the friendships formed during that period, 50% of us remain in a guild on Spinebreaker, albeit casual as opposed to hard core. My lifestyle cannot sustain a repeat of the nine hour Molten Core raids.
I have never been able to replicate that online feeling of community though and in my line of work, MMO and gaming are not conducive to maintaining the "right" profile, so I've searched high and low for a gaming community that I can contribute to and feel like a part of. My wife is often critical of my gaming habits, I know deep down I can never quit. I would often support out teamspeak or Vent server with financial contributions (many members of Requiem were students) and I am keen to demonstrate this commitment to TOG. I read your FAQs in some detail and your Group demonstrate an ethos I want to be a part of. I'll sign up on the Bronze support plan initially and see how we go from there.
I want to join TOG to be able to anonymously share my love of gaming and with a group of people who are a little more mature in their outlook on life ie they have to temper their commitment with the realities of the world and they bring life experience in their contribution. I find now, in WoW for example, people turn up having demonstrated no commitment through either individual research, preparation or commitment. I'm not keen on playing with people like that. I game for enjoyment, never want it to be a chore and want to share the experience. I will always remember the server first kill of Ragnaros in Requiem. We were screaming for ages on Teamspeak and the natural high lasted for days. I want to experience that again and with an equally dedicated group.
I may be raving on and digressing, but what I was initially drawn to TOG through my COD 4 experiences. The prefix TOG was often attached to not only excellent players, but they also played in the spirit of the game and in a manner by which stood out. IF this is indicative of the quality of your members, then I want to be a part of it.
Finally, I would like to contibute to are:
1. WoW.
2. COD 4.
3. COD MW2.
4. Financial Support Bronze.
