Hi, I noticed a reference to TOG in the General Forum today, and thought I'd come see what it was about. I definitely fit the term "old gamer," but after reading some of the postings, I realized that it is a highly subjective term. I was amazed to read that some of the gamers who are in their 20's consider themselves to be old. Maybe I need a "really old gamer" forum since I'm twice their age (smile)!
I am currently playing WOW (PVE realms only), although I have a lifetime membership to LOTRO and have all of the GuildWars campaigns (along with more stand-alone games than I can count). My first computer "gaming" system was a Tandy TRS-80, which is where I developed my love for adventure games (King's Quest, Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken all rocked). I also played the old console games on the Atari 2600 and 5200 before graphics could even be called eye candy.
I'm interested in joining TOG since it looks like a place where the age/gender barrier doesn't exist (an older female does not fit the gamer stereotype), and where folks look for what they have in common rather than what they don't. I haven't tried my hand at raiding--5-mans have been the extent of my group experience. In part I think it's because I am unsure how forgiving a group will be of someone who is still learning the ropes. However, I am having fun leveling numerous toons, and I guess that's all that really matters.
