Membership Application--or--Please love me!
Greetings! Allow me to tell you a bit about myself (okay, actually, you're requiring me to tell you, but I'm a compulsive permission-asker!). I'm a 33-year-old (perilously close to 34) stay-at-home father. I'm also going back to school for a second Bachelor's degree--this time in a field that has half a chance of landing me a job once my son is older. These dual occupations don't leave me a whole lot of time for gaming these days, but I takes what I's can gets!
I've been playing pen-and-paper Dungeons & Dragons since I was nine. I got my first computer when I was ten, along with a copy of Zork I: The Great Underground Empire. I've been a PC-gaming enthusiast ever since. Console-side, I've owned an Intellivision, NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, GameCube, Wii, and, just this last month, we got a PS3 slim for all that new-fangled Netflix streaming. I also love boardgames (Settlers of Catan, Arkham Horror, Risk, etc., etc.) and occasionally succumb to the OCD horrors of collectible card games.
PC-wise, I currently play Lord of the Rings Online and Champions Online for my token MMOs, and get into the odd game of TF2 and L4D/L4D2 when the mood strikes.
My initial reason for seeking to join The Older Gamers is that a couple of my MMO friends and myself are desperate for more fellowship members in Lord of the Rings Online. One of my buddies came upon this group while perusing the forums of another game, and thought this might be a good option. After coming here and reading about the organization, I wholly agree. The conduct guidelines for this group really resonate with me. I would truly love to play games with a group of people who won't call me a "n00b" and kick me from the game when I inadvertently shoot them in the back of the head with my shotgun instead of the lunging zombie I was aiming for. Because, frankly, I will. I am a horrible, horrible shot. But I still love trying to aim for the lunging zombies anyway. I apologize for the head-wound, and also for the time that I will inevitably run the wrong way with the Intel while healing the Spy. Uh, I kind of lost where I was going with this . . . Anyway, like-mindedness. I want to have fun, positive gaming experiences, and help others to do the same. That sounds like what this group is all about. Sign me up!
Thanks for reading my ramble, or at least glossing past it and admitting me to the group anyway. Cheers!
