Greetings!
I go by cohesion on the internet. I am a 31-year-old 3D character setup artist (character rigger, technical director, etc. -- many titles for the same position) living in the Los Angeles area, where I'm unfortunately between industry gigs, having recently finished a long-term contract with 8monkey Labs (based out of Cedar Falls, IA) on their AAA FPS "Darkest of Days," which was released on PC and Xbox 360 in September 2009. I share a house with my older brother, his fiancé, and another roommate, and I'm single and not really looking -- my life is in too much flux right now for me to feel comfortable adding to it.
I got into making art for games due to my lifelong love of gaming. The first system I owned for gaming (well, technically, my parents owned it) was my old Apple II, where I first started with such games as the classic old Sierra games and the original Castle Wolfenstein. I'd play on my friends' C-64s and Atari 2600s, but never owned one, unfortunately. My first console was the NES back in '86, and we were a Nintendo family (SNES, Gameboy, N64) until the PSX. Currently, having left the Xbox, PS2, and Wii with my former roommates in the Chicago area, I have only a little PS1 (the tiny remake of they came out with a few years back), and primarily do PC gaming these days.
I'm also a gaming geek in terms of pencil 'n' paper gaming, too. I could go on for hours about how I think D&D 4E has ruined the game. Then again, I remember the same talk about 3E from the AD&D enthusiasts (of which I was one). I even make my own homebrew systems. I've even brought this into some of my professional work. I worked as a QA analyst (and later QA lead) on a Flash game by Artix Entertainment -- AdeventureQuest -- and got into developing new content, and reworking the entire equipment and class structure of the game to balance it. Fun as hell, but was a volunteer position, and was taking too much time away from paying work.
Anyway, right now, the game I'm spending most of my free time playing -- when I play games -- is Runes of Magic. It's a quality F2P MMORPG, and the art is quite good (I'm even impressed with their ability to rig and animate shoulders well).
TOG seems like my type of organization in general, and gaming clans/guilds in particular. The best gaming groups I've been a part of in the past -- be they guilds in MMOs or clans -- have consisted of older, more mature (at least chronologically) people who are still fun to be around. TOG seems to be that, and thus I think it would be a great experience, and think I would be a good fit.
Well, I guess that's it for now. If I left anything out, let me know. I'd be a bit surprised if I did... I can be a bit long-winded at times.
Oh, in Runes of Magic my primary character's name is "Curumir."
