About me - IGN Melonar
Hi, my name is Scott, but I use the name Melonar in nearly every game that I play (many people refer to me as Mel for short). Apparently, "melonar" is either Portuguese or Spanish for "melon patch", but I had just randomly picked some phonemes that would be pronounceable.
My first game console was a Magnavox Odyssey2 (which was pretty advanced for its time, even if the graphics were inferior to the Atari 2600). I've played various systems and games over the years. Currently, I spend a few minutes (or so) per day on various Facebook and web-based games, with the rest of my time (after working and eating, and before sleeping) playing various other games both single-player and multiplayer.
Up until recently, I was an active player of EVE Online, but as anyone who has played that game knows, if you don't have a good community of friends with you, it gets boring very quickly.
Recently, I've started playing the free-to-play FPS Combat Arms (a clan recruitment thread for that game is what brought me here) The FPS genre is good for us working people who may not have a whole lot of time to devote per day to gaming and gaming sessions can be as quick or lengthy as desired.
I've been looking for a good community of fellow gamers (though not necessarily of a particular age set) that want to enjoy games without taking them too seriously.
As for life outside of gaming, I'm a 31 year old software developer in the Chicago, IL area. I grew up in a small town south of Joliet (where I still live, with my wife of 8 years but no kids... yet). Many of my friends have come and gone, but my true friends keep in touch with me on Facebook.
