Devilish
Default Application

I find myself at a gaming crossroads as i turn 41 in a few days. Stuck between two types of groups in games.
The first being casual guild mates, who are friends in real life mostly. Bless their hearts, they are casual game play folks for whom WoW is their first game and doing seasonal quests for badges is their favorite goals.
The second group is young overachievers, who believe all games are about being elite best-build and everyone else is crap. The credit to these types is that they do have well researched knowledge. I just don't see myself begging some 18yr old guys for some sort of performance position in their group.
So here I stand , faced with the crux of many gamers my age , i believe. As one who loves the depth of games, yet still loves the more casual social aspects without the elite young gamer pissing contest.
Pardon the long wind, I wanted to convey what had brought me here, to TOG. You seem honestly in that realm of folks who follow this train of thought. You as well understand that gaming is a legitimate hobby even as some off us round the corners of 30, 40 and beyond.

My gaming experience was originally seeded in the days of the atari 2600. The fabric of my childhood memory is threaded with hours in front of the console TV with' blow on the cartridge' games. After that evolved the days of nintendo and the piece of cardboard to wedge the game to life. I adored my commodore 64 and the the rest is PC history.
Though i do own a 360, wii, and PS3, i use them for netflix more than anything, because no matter what i try I always seem to go back to PC gaming.
One note is that I am a bit of a beta junkie, I have a huge list of MMORPGS that i have tried, with many purchased and many abandoned.

Currently, am in MMO limbo and it is driving me crazy. I have a wow account on hold, because 6 years is a long time. I am playing in the World of tanks beta. Trying to give FFXIV a chance. Many games on the horizon have my interest. StarWars ,GW2, Rift. I am playing sporadic Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 dead 2, TF2 and have recently dusted off Borderlands again.

I am a 40 yr old fellow living in Massachusetts. (wheel of fortune intro..heh) My lovely wife and I run a business together and have 3 pugs. I am a hobby blacksmith in training, currently making some nice bowie knives.
