Hi all TOG Members.

My name is Gavin.

I am applying for full TOG membership. I found out about TOG from playing on the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Servers online. I liked the servers and went to find out more information which led me to here.

Some things I have done I have read the TOG FAQ. I am living in Melbourne having just moved here from Perth. I have entered that into the USER CP. Also I am 31 years old.

(1. What games are you currently play/looking to play with TOG?)

I play a lot of games, at the moment I am playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Company of Heroes and Starcraft 2. I usually keep up with new game news, but I'm finding lately that more games are released than I have the time to play.

I am looking to play Battlefield Bad Company 2 and its expansion Vietnam when it is released with TOG. Perhaps also Company of Heroes and World of Warcraft if there is a TOG guild.

I stopped playing World of Warcraft for a while mostly as I am waiting for the expansion. I have been playing since the level 60 cap days on Aman'thul oceanic server. I joined within hours of that server starting up. My mains were a Priest and a Druid both raid healers. I've done every instance in game, but I'm sure there are new ones since I've left. I did level up to 80 and raid at all the level caps, good memories. I will be happy to join a TOG guild on another realm as I am looking to re-roll another character this time as a Shaman "shammy" as I am keen to see what they are like to heal with. I think its a good time to re-roll with so many changes in this new expansions game world. Yes I like healing. I had a good reputation as a reliable and excellent raid healer when I played.

In Battlefield Bad Company 2 I am not looking to get into the elite hardcore gaming squad, but I would appreciate some level of teamwork on a casual level. I have been playing with a friend from back in Perth and in squad with him we got some teamwork going on using Ventrillo. It would good to take that to the next level with TOG. I would be available to game regularly in BC2 a few nights a week, which I am doing already anyway.

Thats by no means an exhaustive list of games that I am playing. If there are other games TOG members are playing and I'm not already playing it, I'm probably quite keen to give it a shot.

(2. What was the first gaming console you own or pen and paper game you played?)

The first gaming computer I owned was a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A. This was released in 1981, and I was only born in 1979, so I was really young, but from as young as I remember I was first playing this. It was cartridge based, I think I got every game there was for it over lots of years, lots of shoot em ups and you could program with it. There was snake games and tank wars on it. Spent many hours, copying lines of code out, programming in BASIC to make it do things.

Then I got an IBM PC XT. I was gaming on that and that was my first experience with PC gaming. I loved it. Then we upgraded and got a IBM PC AT. Then after that a IBM PC 286. Then got a 386 with a math co-processor which was a big deal at the time. Then a 486, 586, 686 and so on. Until today, I have a few computers, but I game on a 2.4GHz PC with a Radeon 5770, which will get upgraded again very soon. It plays BC2 and anything I throw at it smoothly.

I have also had all the consoles. I had a Commodore 64 and an Atari 2600 "wood veneer" version. Played lots of games on that including River Raid, Pole Position. Then I upgraded to a Atari 7800. Then we got a Nintendo and a Sega Master System. Then a Nintendo 64. Then a Playstation, upgraded to Playstation 2 then I got an Xbox 360. I got the Xbox 360 for the expansions to Grand Theft Auto 4.

I am an Older Gamer in that I still appreciate the older games and love them. Children today can't concept the fun unless it has the graphics to go with it, but I really appreciate the playability of a game firstly. My Favourite Game of all time would be Command HQ on PC. This was an early real time strategy game before Dune 2 and Command and Conquer. Its on Wikipedia. We would play with null modem cables and serial cables and over the modems with friends at other houses over the telephone lines using our 2400 baud rate modems. I still play it regularly to this day. I do play the consoles but I do prefer the first person shooters and strategy games on the PC to this day. I am very much a PC gamer. I do also have a Macbook and iMac and am starting to now do very limited gaming with that as well.

(3. Why do you want to join TOG?)

To meet new people. To find people to game with. To take my gaming to the next level, rather than just playing with my limited group of friends or playing solo with no interaction with others. My main reason for wanting to join would be Battlefield Bad Company 2 and to get a bit more teamwork and
squad play going on. It is the game that also led me to find out about TOG. I liked the servers and the server rules during the first two MCOM stations. I was already looking to join a Clan, it was just a question of which one. The Older Gamers attracted me, as it seemed like it was going to be comprised of more mature people who are able to take it a bit more seriously but still realise it is a game and not act like complete children on the microphone in game chat.

Also I am a really big gamer generally. I do play a lot of games and the TOG community seemed to be much bigger than just one game which is why I was really keen to look at joining TOG rather than other clans. It seems like there would be an opportunity to find people who also play Company of Heroes or World of Warcraft. Perhaps I can even find some new games I don't know about that people are actually playing. I have played most first person shooters including Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 but I do take a strong preference to Battlefield Bad Company 2 for the pure fun factor.

Also keen on the competitive side of gaming and perhaps looking at exploring that sometime in the future.

(4. Tell us about yourself or anything else you'd like to share.)

Have I not said enough already! I wanted to put some effort into my application rather than just a one word answer. Some of my old World of Warcraft raiding guilds has quite strict entrance requirements and you had to meet certain criteria and gear levels and then they would test you out
and trial you. I was lucky in that good raid healers were always in quite high demand. But I don't expect such automatic privileged entry into TOG.

In Battlefield Bad Company 2 in defence I really do go all out to defuse the MCOM station not worrying about my kill/death ratio. I have had it blow up in my hands while defusing it a number of times so close! I've also got good at shooting attackers while defusing at same time. In attack I am much more mindful of my kill/death ratio, and won't put myself in the line of fire so much. I look at playing as a Medic more and where I can place the health packs so lots of people use them. Keep laying them down. I will however certainly push forward at every opportunity, always exploring map in areas where there may be no one, to get behind them, so then my squad can spawn on me or I can take out some people holding everyone up from advancing.

I play mostly as NurseSarah online. But I signed up with TOG as oblivions mostly for a personal reason as I wanted to see if I had improved and how I would go playing exclusively on the Hardcore Servers. NurseSarah has everything unlocked, but oblivions hasn't yet. It will soon enough. I'm
intending to use oblivions exclusively on the hardcore servers. The main reason I like hardcore is the lack of kill cam. No matter what the game mode, I'm not a big fan of the kill cam. So oblivions is a new profile but it will be what I will be using on the TOG servers online.

My World of Warcraft Priest healer was Sarah, so thats how NurseSarah came into it. I was intending to play as a Medic and thats how the Nurse part came in. There is more to it, but it is kind of a long story that I will spare you the details. It's just a name. As it turns out I am finding I am mostly playing as Assault in Battlefield Bad Company 2. I will obviously change class depending on whats going on, to take out a APC or whatever. oblivion has been my online handle for a very very long time.

I love music, I really do listen to almost anything, but I certainly do have certain artists that I like.

I trust I have made the best decision in applying to join TOG. Your website looks great. You seem to be open to playing a variety of games, which is really going to suit me and I'm quite keen to interact. I am quite an active gamer. I don't have any children so the only person who will act as me
and represent me online will be me at all times.

I look forward to your reply and I'll leave my application to your perusal. ^_^

Ah ain't that the way of it.
A moderator will be along shortly to look over your application, and if deemed worthy will give you full site access. But judging by the effort you have put into your application I don't think that will be a problem.
+1 for an excellent app.
