New Application to Join
Hi, I'm Bjorn, 34 years old, Swedish but ended up in England, Oxfordshire were I live with my partner. I did notice your mainly Australian / US but hoping you might have some European players as well.
I work from home running my own company (Web) which allows for some freedom for gaming time. I love MMOs, preferably Fantasy settings. But I've played games since I was very young, the first computer I had was Commodore 64 with a tape player. Somewhat later I got myself a old Ericsson PC and that got me hooked on early D&D Fantasy game (pre Baldurs Gate) and CIV.
Before that back at School I used to play a bit Pen and Paper stuff plus got into table top games like Warhammer.
I didn't really get into MMOs until Warcraft came out, except a very early dabble in Ultima Online over dialup. I stayed with WoW for several years but stop playing just before Wrath of the Lich King. It had by then lost it's appeal to me. I've since tried most of the major MMOs: EQ2, Lotro, WAR (loved it!), Conan (never got into it), Allods and AION (played for a few months but not my cup of tea in the end). I'm currently trying out FFXIV but not impressed so far and probably won't continue with it. So I'm really looking for a new game, or rather maybe a gaming community / guild in old game that I might go back to.
I would like to join TOG mainly for 2 reasons:
1. Being a part of a Community.
The best times I've had in MMOs has been playing as a part of a community or guild. It adds a whole new aspect to the games, plus many flaws with a game can be overseen if you got a great community to play with. A multi-game community seems to obvious choice as there has been so many different MMOs the last couple of years, with guilds/gamers moving from one to the other.
2. Age.
The older I get the more difficult I find it to play with younger people, mainly under 18. Their view on life is quite different from mine, language, expressions etc. . With older players it's more laid back and less.. well bullshit. Some games have been worse than others. For example Allods (F2P) every single sentence would end with "gay" or "your mum this or that...". It gets a bit tedious.
As I mentioned, not sure if you're supposed to be applying with a certain game in mind, which I haven't. I'm in-between games but trying to decide on one to invest time in and hopefully play together with other people.
