Hi TOG people
Hi, doing my thing here and posting my please accept me message.
Gaming history - really, apart from coin op machines when I was a kid the first gaming I did seriously (like, sneak out of bed and break into my boarding school computer room stuff) was back in the early '80s on Apple II hardware playing Choplifter and Ultima II (the one bit me bad). Bought a PC of my own at uni in '90 and started on my long shooter love affair. Played Wolf3d of course, then Doom, Doom2, but really it was Quake and Quake 2 that reeled me in. From there to UT, Half Life, Tribes 2, UT2k3, BF1942, Desert Combat, Half Life2, BF2 of course, CoDMW, CoDWaW, L4D, L4D2, MW2 a little, TF2 a little, now BC2 when I can. Apart from those, highlights include other Ultima games, Wizardry (!), C&C, Warcraft, Dark Reign, TA, UFO Enemy Unknown (wow), Diablo 1 and 2 (way too much), Neverwinter Nights, Gears of War, um, yeah, there's a lot there and a fair bit I haven't mentioned.
Why join TOG? - I'm applying to join TOG because even though I like competitive play I don't have the time or inclination to get serious or angry about it. Much prefer to play in a really happening team than top the K/D charts. Apart from that, you have a relatively new member (RufusRex) who is enthusiastically spruiking your services so he's roped me in. Not really sure how much time I will spend in game but we'll see.
About myself - I've been married 18 years and live in northen NSW. I have 5 children aged 13, 11, 9, 7 and 3. Except with the 3 year old, I have been known to enjoy some fast MW action with the kids on our LAN out back. My career is in ICT Services with a government agency. I enjoy tinkering with my computer machinery plus trips to the farm and motorbiking, OzTag, canyoning and camping.
Bit of an essay, hope I qualify for membership. Thanks.
