Arrow Quick introduction and application to join

Hey all,

I am a long time gamer (been playing since the early '80's - on a TSR and the Atari). I've played a lot of stuff through the years and am currently fairly involved with LoTRO. I came across a recruiting post for your LoTRO branch, the Osgiliath Guard, and dug into your main page to get some details. I should fit the bill, being 37, on the age front.

A little about me:

I have a family, which obviously comes first and am gainfully employed (full time, regular schedule). Real life is the focus, with gaming a fun outlet. I'm very casual in my approach to gaming, having done the hard core grinding/raiding in days gone by. I am looking for a friendly, family-oriented, mature social group.

I've played it all (first online gaming experience was MechWarrior 2, then discovered MUDs, then Net Trek, Ultima Online, Battlefield 1942-2142, EVE Online, then WoW, then Warhammer, Team Fortress 2, and now Lord of the Rings Online). I played a lot of offline, single player stuff (Ultima was my first hook on a series and played that from Ultima III-Ultima /IX, which sucked). I generally play to the end or to the end game of anything I start.... so, I've got a ways to go in LoTRO.

I should also mention that I am (and hopefully will always be) a member of another bunch of old coots, 30plus. Unfortunately, they've turned their focus to EVE Online, and having played that for several years, I am burnt out. I play Battlefield Bad Company 2 on Wednesday with some of my clan mates, but no one is into LoTRO. If this presents a problem, I fully respect that and wish you all the best. If not, then I look forward to pitching in against the dark forces of Sauron (I've been a huge Tolkein fan since my childhood).

My toons in LoTRO (by the way, not huge into role playings... loved the pen and paper stuff, not so much with MMOs):

Faragost, the human hunter (woodsmen) who's currently Level 28 (and my main).
Stanvett, the dwarven champion (metalsmith) who's currently Level 15.
Berillach, the elven rune keeper (scholar) who's currently Level 14.

Thanks for your time,

Ratsback

Hi and welcome to TOG . A Moderator will be along in a bit to process your application.

When that has happened and you have access to the forums head on down to the LOTRO forum and pop the names of the characters that want invites in The Osgiliath Guards invite thread.

Have fun

Welcome to TOG.

If you are looking to play some MMORPG with some fellow gamers, check out Pirates of the Burning Sea (PotBS).

As the TOG Society Leader for PotBS, we are relaunching the division to coincide with the change to Free to Play business model.

Joining now means you get in at the ground floor of what I expect will be a fun filled active game division with lots to do.

I expect to start a new character playing group (max of 6 per group) to jointly play through the starter missions.

Initially PvE groups for missions and eventually open sea PvP once we reach the max level cap of 50 and equip ourselves with the best ships in the game.

Initially we will be focussing on a Pirate Society on Antigua (US peak playtime) server.

With a non-TOG sanctioned group playing on Roberts (European peak playtime) server as French nationals until we have enough players to establish our own economic supply chain for cost effective production of ships and consumeables for society members.

So check out this link if you want to know more about PotBS
http://www.theoldergamers.com/forum/pirates-burning-sea/329558-read-first-pirates-burning-sea-guide.html#post2958152

And post your forum name and ingame avatar name on our sign up list for the Pirate faction on Antigua (US peak playtime) once you have downloaded the game and signed up to play for free via the Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) launcher 3.

I recommend that later if you are serious about playing longer term you pay US$14.99 for a one month subscription so you can get access to a full account which does not limit you to max of two ships, two dockyards and two character slots and force you to pay for everything.

By subbing for one month you become a Premium Player so get the same privileges as a former returning player gets who doesn't currently subscribe to the monthly fee (Captain's club).

Note that it doesn't matter what time zone you are in as initially you will be levelling up via PvE missions so you will be mainly grouping with Society members, so although we are Australian based society, we have members from the US and UK playing this game, so you are likely to find someone online whenever you feel like playing some PotBS.

All the Best

Ace
Society Leader for TOG Pirates of the Burning Sea game division.
