Howdy folks!
My name is Scott and I'm delighted to find another site that caters to mature gamers. I look forward to getting to know many of you.
At the moment I'm exclusively an XBox 360 gamer with only the occasional dalliances with PC gaming. Once I finish school and start working regularly I plan to pick up a PS3 and a game worthy PC.
My current crack, errr game of choice is BFBC2. I like FPS shooters, but this is hands down my favorite, primarily because of the strong team emphasis and reward. Playing with people you know/like minded people makes all the difference in the world. I still play MW2, BO, Op Flashpoint, NoH, Gears of War,... most of the top end FPSs.
In addition, I simply love good a good RPG.and/or sandbox games. My favorites have been Red Dead Redemption, Fallout 3 and NV, GTA San Andreas, Mass Effect 1&2, Fable 1&2....you get the idea.
My first video games are kind of a blur. I remember playing on the Atari 2600, hand held games like Pong, or the Commodore 64. Pac Man, Combat, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Oregon Trail...all bring back fond memories.
I also loved pen and paper games as well, though I don't really play them any more. Countless hours were spent tweeking D&D and AD&D characters. In addition, I loved the Marvel Super Heroes RPG. There were also some scifi RPGs that I dabbled in, like MechWarrior, but didn't play too much.I swear half the fun of those games was simply leafing through all the information in those manuals!
I'm interested in joining TOG because I enjoying playing and sharing my video game experiences with folks I know rather than random strangers. Online multiplayer can also be "a wretched hive of scum and villainy" and is more enjoyable if not traversed alone. I also participate in the Gamers with Jobs forum and continue to have wonderful experiences with members there. I'm always looking for additional folks to play with as well as speculate about games and such.
At the moment, I am living in Galveston, TX, though I'm originally from upstate NY. I have a degree in Biology and at the moment I'm working on my second bachelor's degree in Marine Transportation. I'm enrolled at the Texas Maritime Academy and will be done within the year. At which point I'll be working as a 3rd mate on board a ship and hopefully making money, rather than just spending it.
Because mariner work is kind of atypical, my schedule can be a little wonky, meaning I may be around for long periods and then gone for long periods. If I don't respond, don't take it personally. I may literally be thousands of miles from shore.
Again, I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know folks here at TOG. Happy gaming!
