Greetings
Drake here from the Eastern Seaboard. I'm 30 years old and have been gaming since I was knee-high to an Atari APB coin-op in 1985. I have fond memories of NES, SNES, PSX, and the Pentium 1 150MHZ I used to play Warcraft 2, Starcraft 1 and Diablo 1 so many years ago.
These days I play mostly single-player games (or the single-player variant of games with multiplayer functions, a la CoD) but have continued a 6-year love/hate relationship with World of Warcraft. I'll spare you the details of my MMORPG history and won't even try to remark on the various trials of the "older gamer" in World of Warcraft.
What I will say is that I walk a special kind of tightrope -- while I have a wonderful, blossoming career, I still take pride in getting things done and pulling my weight in the game. I've had to leave more than one guild in my time in the game...the gay joke-riddeled, lawlpwnz bunch were easy to leave behind. Leaving the adult community that created a wholesome environment but were completely and utterly unreliable for help, and couldn't be expected to pull their weight was much, much harder.
In essence, this is why I am here. I am looking for a group/guild to group and raid with in WoW; A guild with members that can get their grown-up on, not flame and rant when things don't go their way, but still feel free to have a go at each other; a "hardcore" casual guild that doesn't make the entire process about proving to a realm just how great and wonderful they are, a bunch that, on the whole, perceives gold as merely a means to an end and not a identifier of worth and importance, but is still compelled to have their tradeskills up to par before they go levelling that FotM worgen or goblin...
I hardly believe such a thing exists, but nonetheless I keep looking.
Cheers,
Drake
