Default UK application - Squeaker

Hi all,

Found this website purely by chance, but I like the idea behind it, so I had a look around. Finally succumbed to applying for full membership as I realised that as I'm hitting 40 next year, I definitely qualify for the O in TOG. (I'm also mildly amused that I used to listed to Terry Wogan on BBC Radio 2 and he also had TOG's, but's that's another story)

I do tend to get a bit fed up with the younger scrotes sometimes, but especially if I'm in a group being led by a spotty 12-year old youth who, because he's played the game incessantly for the last 3 months, thinks he's got the right to be abusive/crass/a little tosser. So I thought I'd give this a go, and hopefully hook up with a few players that are more experienced in life as well as games.

Ok, onto the obligatory questions:
What games are you currently play/looking to play with TOG?
My main timesink is Eve Online. I'm not a heavy player, but I have been into it for about 4-5 years now, and still enjoy the incredible scope the game has. I have enjoyed tactical FPS's in the past, and having just bought Armed Assault 2 - Combined Ops I'd like to hook up with people who play that, but preferably not cocky kids (see rant above)

What was the first machine you played games on or pen and paper game you played?
Ooohhhh... My first computer was an Atari 800XL, but when I got my Amiga I really got into gaming. Elite was a favourite, but also enjoyed the combat flight sims.

I also used to spend HOURS playing Car Wars, a tabletop game. Got all the expansions for it (still in my loft now) and many a happy hour was spent trying to work out a way to get an anti-tank gun into a ford escort-sized car and still having space to fit in an engine that'd move it.

Why do you want to join TOG?
See rant above. (I can copy and paste if you like?)

Tell us about yourself or anything else you'd like to share.
Don't have tons of time to dedicate to gaming, but I am online a couple of evenings a week, trying to blow things up one way or another. Just looking forward to meeting a like-minded bunch who appreciate that sometimes life has to come first, but doesn't mind the odd bloodbath now and again.

Looking forward to making some friends on here, some of which I fully expect to get shot by in the future.
