Application to TOG
Hello all,
My name is Frank an I am a 40 year old family man from NY. I have been around the MMORPG scene for quite a while, since 2001 where FFXI was my first MMORPG game.
As gaming goes, I go back to pong. First played pong on some contraption with two paddles and then graduated to coin-op games. That led me to the Atari 2600, a TRS (trash) - 80 computer, thats when I fell I fell in love with gaming. It's been downhill ever since.
Why I want to join TOG? Well, I've got to an age where the old jokes just aren't funny anymore. Getting into a pug and hearing, nice phailzor noob or LRN2PLAY nubsauce is funny... the first time...maybe, but its not where I'm at in my life. Sorry. My time is limited so I like to spend it with like-minded people who are organized, know what their doing and The Older Gamers definitely seem to. I had a out-of-state friend refer me to TOG once and I have played with a few of them in different games here and there and all seemed like great people.
As I am getting involved with Rift, I see them all over the place, so I decided to do the right thing for once and join a real guild. What I mean by real, is that they are organized over quite a few games and not on the verge of collapsing on a discrepancy over loot. Too many good "guilds" I've been in have fallen apart due to loot-drama. That...drives me nuts.
My philosophy on loot: If its a direct upgrade to an important piece of gear; take for example I am a tank and its a new shield, I will roll need on it. If it isn't, greed all the way. Unless I need it, then I don't "need" it.
So, I work at the library computer center at a local community college and also go to school full time. My attendance is subject to changing and during finals and midterms I tend not to play much.
I am a people person who likes to help and get involved. I can be a leader if the situation arises and can also follow orders when handed them. I've been around MMORPG's since FFXI and played online shooters since Quake 1, then Half-life TFC. I know my classes and how to play/function in a PVE and a PVP setting. I don't whine, cry, bitch, moan, troll, scold or rage. I just play to win and "Git-er-done" when in an instance.
My philosophy on group play: first off, we are here to have fun, wiping is no fun. So I do my job, stay alert and listen to what the tank/group/raid leader says with no backtalk. Like Nike says ,"just do it." If something goes bad, then I don't sit and point fingers; instead I'm like, "lets go over what happened and see if we can think up a strat for this."
Primarily I play City of Heroes and the Rift Beta, which I pre-ordered and will be in there through launch.
I hope I fit the criteria for this guild, you seem like a really great group of peeps and looking forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you for reading my lengthy app.
All the best,
Frank
