Hi All,
Games I play
============
The games I mostly play are fps games like Battlefield, Team Fortress - I used to play rts games quite a bit. Total Annihilation was my favourite.
About Me
=======
I'm 47, married and have two boys 12 & 10.
I live in a town called St Neots which is about sixty miles north of London in the UK, just off the A1.
I work with computers, mostly things to do with databases. My job is in london with a company that does online gaming.
A lot of people play games at lunch, which is different to most placed I've worked.
This is probably what has re-ignited my interest in games.
History
=======
I've been playing games since I was a kid and we moved to the States in the early 1970's.
There was a huge bowling alley near us with 64 lanes. There was a games room that we were allowed to play in until 5pm when the adults took over.
It was a childs paradise, about 15 pinball machines, three air hockey tables and an assortment of other games, some really weird, like how long you could stand being electrocuted! There was also a juke box meaning some songs take me right back there (Ballroom blitz, Bennie and the Jets).
I remember the Pong and Computer Space machines, followed by pong on own tv, space invaders in arcades and then the 2600, my mate had just about every cartridge, though we still ended up playing Combat most of the time.
Star Raiders on Atari 800, Asteroids, Missile command, Lunar Lander, Centipede, Star Wars. At university we lived 15 minutes walk from the arcades in Leicester Square, pub sessions used to end up playing Star Wars in one of those sit down boxes - use the force Luke.
Then we all got into relationships, games playing withered for quite a few years, until I discovered M.A.M.E.
That started it up again, a few computer games followed, PS1, XBox & 360. Recently I've been playing a bit more on the PC now that I've finally gotten around to geting a new PC that can handle the newest games.
Why Join TOG
============
Playing in a team that works together is my favourite type of play.
To be honest if I rely purely on skill nowadays I won't do well, I don't play as much as younger players and my reflexes are slower.
But being a bit older gives us better teamwork and collaboration skills.
Playing a team who are beating you, working out their strategy, how to defeat it, then winning is about as good as it gets for me.
I'm not for totally destroying the other team, if you have a good lead and it's obvious you aree going to win then lighten up and have some fun.
I like winning, but I'd rather lose a good game than win a bad one.
I'd rather be with a group of fun people than annoying, selfish whining ones.
Cheers
Neil
