Hi, everyone!

I'm a bit younger than some of you - I'm 32, and I'm looking to join TOG. I'm getting a bit tired of being a pubbie, being insulted and having to endure hideous, selfish gameplay. I'm looking to meet some cool people to game with, play some great matches, and generally get back to unwinding through gaming instead of having to fight the urge to smash the keyboard in frustration.

I'm an english and media teacher, and I'm about to start my PhD in education, which some of you might find interesting: My research is going to be into gaming and new media as classroom curriculum and learning tools, so I'm going to be playing a LOT of games in the coming years.

I've been gaming since I was old enough to speak. My first machine was the Vic-20, and for my 6th birthday, I received the Vic-20 version of 'Donkey Kong' as a cartridge. Since then, I've been through the C64, the Amstrad, the Amiga, 8088XT's, the 386/486 PC era, Pentiums, took a detour into the PSX/PS2/PS3 and the XBOX/360, dabbled a bit in Nintendo before returning to my glorious, beloved gaming rig. I'm pretty much a purely PC gamer now - 278 Steam games and counting. Terrifying.

In terms of specific games, I like all kinds of stuff, from BFBC2 and TF2, to Mount And Blade and the Paradox strategy games, to indie stuff like Minecraft and Magicka. I also do a lot of gaming through emulators - everything from classic 8-bit machines to DOSbox and text adventure remakes. I dabble in WoW and EVE Online from time to time, but I'm not very good at making friends in those games, so I've been playing them alone - which isn't much fun. Hopefully, joining TOG will change that for the better!

So, hopefully I'll get to do meet some of you and do some gaming!
